A modern secure practice system.
It was pretty easy to set up and I'm still continuing to find extra features they offer. I like that they take cyber security seriously. I'm not sure why there are negative reviews about customer service as they have been quick to get back to me.
Pros
The calendar is great, easy to use and you can see the times client's are scheduled. You can set up notifications to be alerted about appointment times. The customer service has been helpful and they are quick to get back to me. They offer a lot of great features.
Cons
I would prefer more customizability with the invoices and Superbills.
Reasons for Choosing SimplePractice
Psyquel's customer service became an issue in 2024 after it was bought out. The system is outdated. They haven't made any real changes since I started with them over ten years ago. I worried about their security. It's quite basic and doesn't offer many features.Switched From

A great system for practice management - but not for MY group practice.
In the beginning we were excited about the prospect of moving to this system, but ultimately, it did not meet our needs and did not offer the flexibility to adapt the features to accommodate. I believe it would be a great option for an individual in private practice, but did not work for us as a larger group practice.
Pros
We moved from a system that was very antiquated and simple to this platform and so the features that it offered were new and exciting. We were able to manage electronic documents digitally which we had never done before, run reports, manage schedules all in one place, and claims and billing were all in one place.
Cons
Because it is a system built to accommodate any type of practice, it did not work for our unique and specific needs. We had many issues with reports processing correctly, were losing information, and there were inefficiencies in the way that claims and payments processed and posted.

It was great when it was great, I guess!
I have had Simple Practice for over 3 years. At first things were lovely, little connection and tech issues and the it was a very reliable system to use. Once SP increased there prices, the quality of the telehealth functions severely decreased. Even my clients make jokes about how unreliable the telehealth features are. I am almost embarrassed to continue using the software. Effective 1/1/2025, I will be leaving SP and going to Carepatron. I am excited about this change as the prices are great (more than $60 less per month) with more features, including AI integration. They also have the option to use ZOOM which is synced with their platform. I am excited about the change and simply can no longer support Simple Practice. It was great when it was great, I guess!
Pros
Calendar sync, scheduling, user friendly, payment options, Stripe integration, client portal, templates available.
Cons
Technology extremely unreliable, constant connect issues, non existent customer support, price is very expensive ($99 per month) and system issues at least 4 to 6 times per week.

User Friendly
Overall it’s my favorite ehr platform because it’s so easy to navigate.
Pros
User friendly, the templates are helpful and easy to use, telehealth feature, and I like how the goals from the treatment plan show next to the progress notes.
Cons
I can’t think of anything I dislike. Sometimes the connection on telehealth sessions is poor, but that is likely not a SimplePractice issue.

Over priced, but works
I don’t love the platform, but it works for what it is. It’s also more expensive than a lot of EHRs for pre-licensed individuals.
Pros
I like that it is good for the starting up clinician and that the templates are easily customized.
Cons
I don’t like how glitchy telehealth is, that there is not a lot of customization on the calendar screen and it can be readily confusing to someone who is trying to use the system besides just scheduling.

Profit First & Monopoly Goals
SimplePractice bought out my long-time EHR Luminello in 2023 and eliminated Luminello in 2024, taking over their customers. They offered Luminello customers a "special deal" with a "lower rate" for the first year. Upon looking up SimplePractice's rates on their own website, I discovered that the "deal" that they offered us was MORE than their regular rates, not a discount. They also consistently raise prices for their current customers at well above market increases and charge extra for very basic features that are included in other EHR's basic plans.
I have also heard unfavorable things about their privacy practices (i.e., selling aggregate client data for profit).
Finally, in 2024 they bought out Track Your Hours, including Track Your CEUs, another product that I had been using for years (for free!), and then proceeded to shut down that product as well. I assume they offer a similar feature in their EHR and did not want any competition. They seem to be trying to create a monopoly on all mental health related digital companies so that they can charge as much as they want.
Pros
I have had multiple dealings with SimplePractice, but (to be fair to them) my ratings are not based on using their EHR, but rather their business practices. I have nothing good to say about them.
Cons
Their focus on profit at the expense of ethics and customer/client satisfaction.

Easy-to-Use, Customizable, and Well-Intergrated
Overall, this is a great product. I'd just recommend a few minor adjustments and it would be the perfect EHR!
Pros
I really love the intuitive calendar management. I can 'drag and drop' appointments and can easily set recurrences and move recurring appointments. I also love the 'Load Last Note' feature where I can save time on filling in standard fields and concentrate more on the weekly/bi-weekly changes in information (i.e. client progress, client needs).
Cons
I would improve the Telehealth app. The Telehealth app seems to malfunction quite frequently when clients are using their phones to join appointments. I have also noticed that my video glitches quite frequently. I would also improve the 'Share' function on Telehealth. It is very hard to screenshare and use it for sharing worksheets and handbooks.

A cluster from start to finish
Originally as a sole provider- it was OK, that was before it got sold. Now it is a different company and it is HORRIBLE. They don't know what they are doing and they don't even know the basics of billing. It is a total mess- and it is a fraud for them to be saying they can do the billing with this software, because they clearly cannot.
Pros
For solo providers, maybe passable. Horrible for groups
Cons
The billing is a total cluster and now so is customer service, outsourced to the DR. Your bills go through APEX EDI clearinghouse BUT the ERAS supposedly come back through Change Healthcare- two different clearinghouses- special fees with that, of course. Our company was never set up properly nor advised of this and have had no ERAs for more than 10 weeks now. ALSO they incorrectly set up the billing and mislabeled NPI2 so that we were getting denied for about 1/3 of our claims. And when we discovered this, they told us it was our problem- even though THEY set up the billing and we gave the correct information.
Response from SimplePractice
Dear user,
Your detailed feedback is invaluable. We apologize for the billing and service issues you've faced. We're actively improving our billing system and customer support to ensure a smoother experience, especially for group practices. Your insights drive our commitment to refine our services and address errors promptly. We deeply value your patience and willingness to highlight these issues. We're currently discussing the points raised in your review at a higher level within our team.
Warm regards,

Great get started product
I recommend this product to anyone starting off with their business. It is a good resource for a thriving business as well. But when starting off everything is so overwhelming, yet Simple Practice makes it smooth and stress free.
Pros
I love how it has all that I needed to get my coaching business started. Easy set up of appointments and billing options. Very easy. Very helpful when feeling overwhelmed with starting a business up and running. I have gone from a brand new business to a thriving coaching business with the help and ease of Simple practice. It links into my apple calendar and my google calendar. It sends a reminder and link to my client. The billing system is smooth.
Cons
I have had a few glitches with the reminder app. Sometimes the extra features are not translated from the phone app to the overall system.

Two Thumbs Up!
I have gotten very familiar with the company over the years and have really enjoyed the simplicity and effectiveness of the simple practice platform. I have recently also started using it from the client side, and like being able to know how everything is organized, and what to expect.
Pros
I like how easy it is to be able to access the information that I need quickly, and that it is user friendly to the point of me being able to quickly schedule and add notes to my client's charts. The Wiley notes save my life, and make me sound a lot smarter.
Cons
I like some of the templates that I have used at other companies, and they aren't universal to be able to use in other areas.

I love everything about Simple Practice.
Pros
What I liked most about Simple Practice is the support team. They answered any questions and the setup process. It was pretty simple.
Cons
What I like least about Simple Practice Is the clearing house. In February we had a major breach it was hard to see payments and ERA.

Would Recommend
Overall, I loved SimplePractice and wish I could go back to it.
Pros
The ease of editing all assessments, notes, treatment plans, etc was FANTASTIC.
I also loved how easy it was to adjust appointments in the calendar, send documents to clients, and so much more.
Cons
The billing became a problem for the group practice I was working at.
It was also a problem to have more than one contact on a client profile which was challenging for working with children. I believe this may have been fixed since I left that agency.

There's got to be something better than this
There is absolutely no customer service. Zero. There's no phone number no email nothing. It's just not acceptable for the price and the sheer number of customers they have. Also it's not simple at all.
Pros
The best feature is that you can make custom forms and you can email consent forms to clients.
Cons
It's very outdated and clumsy. I use very few of the features. They recently made updates which were more like decorations that really messed up the functionality and I can't take it anymore. I'm looking for something else.

Not Simple at all and not worth the time or money
It was horrible. I lost an entire year of income trying to figure out the billing features. I had two other colleagues who had the same experience I did and they left simple practice as well.
Pros
In theory the features that simple practice offers are great. You can schedule patients, use it for med records, and billing.
Cons
Using the features is impossible! I had simple practice for several years and the billing was always messed up, plus it’s very expensive if you have a certain number of claims. If a patient has multiple coverages it is very hard to manage. I could never use the invoices feature because the billing was always incorrect which made the invoices all incorrect. The documents and forms were too difficult to figure out. The only feature that worked well and was easy to use was scheduling. I finally found a different software that was much easier.

Great Starter Software for New Clinicians
I love the features and integrations that SimplePractice provides when using medical software for the first time. I was not overwhelmed when I first used it, it was very easy to adapt and play with.
Pros
I love how simple and easy to use the software is for new mental health professionals adapting to the business management side of mental health services.
Cons
Billing can be a hassle sometimes if you are just starting off and unfamiliar with the process. Also, reminders can be a little overwhelming, there needs to be a more consistent structure.
