Most quoting tools ask the mover for a number. Cerrax works the other way round: it derives the number from the job. A surveyor, an office estimator or the customer themselves captures what is being moved, room by room or straight to volume, and the conditions that will actually govern the day — stairs and floors at both ends, how far the van can park from the door, long carries, lifts, items that must be dismantled — plus the exact road distance between the two addresses. A deterministic pricing engine turns that into a figure and shows the working: how many hours, how many people, how many vans, and what each access condition added.

Because the engine is deterministic rather than a model, the same job produces the same price every time, whoever is quoting and however often it is re-run. That makes a price explainable to a customer who challenges it, and comparable across a season of jobs.

The quote is the beginning of the record rather than the end of it. The enquiry that arrived, the quote the customer accepted, the booking, the day in the diary, the crew sheet the team opens on their phones and the invoice afterwards all belong to the same job, so details are not retyped from one system into another and nothing falls between them.

The mover stays in charge throughout. Any price can be overridden, and the override is recorded rather than discarded, so the reason survives alongside the figure. Quotes can be replayed and audited months later.

Artificial intelligence has a deliberately narrow role: it reads a video walkthrough, photographs or a typed list from the customer and proposes the items it can see, which a human then confirms. No model estimates a volume and no model sets a price.
