# Stenobox

Canonical: https://www.softwareadvice.co.nz/software/566464/Stenobox

> Stenobox is transcription software for court reporters — however you make the record. Upload the audio or video from a deposition, hearing, examination under oath or recorded statement, and it comes back as a court-formatted verbatim draft: Q. and A. with examination headers, speakers named rather than "Speaker 2," 25 numbered lines, and dates, numbers and punctuation set the way a transcript expects. You review it against the audio and certify it. The reporter stays the certifying officer, always.
Who it's for: independent court reporters — stenographic, digital and electronic — legal transcriptionists, and small reporting agencies. Stenographic writers use it to scope their own work. It's built by a working certified reporter, and it assumes you already know what a transcript should look like.
Getting audio in: MP3, WAV, M4A and video files, or FTR court-recorder folders — drop in the .trm and .trs files with the court log and the log is read automatically for names and spellings. You can also record the proceeding right in the browser, with a live draft that updates as people speak and can be shared with counsel through a private link that expires when the session ends.
What makes the review different: the draft arrives with the doubtful spots already marked. Words the system isn't certain of are flagged and linked to that exact moment in the audio, so you click and listen instead of scrubbing. Speaker checks flag places where the voice doesn't match the label. Interpreted proceedings are handled. There's USB foot pedal support, a boost for quiet voices, silence skipping, and video that stays in sync with the transcript — so verifying is listening, not retyping.
Getting the transcript out: Word (.docx), plain text, or Court ASCII, with the title page, contents and certificate page included. Federal page geometry, Michigan statutory format, or your own margins. Or copy the whole draft straight into your CAT software.
Pricing: $149 per month, flat, including 100 audio hours per billing period. Month-to-month, cancel anytime, with a 7-day free trial — a card is required and nothing is charged during the trial. One reporter per account, no per-minute meter, no annual contract.
Support: email support, a help center, a quick-start guide, and a library of transcript-formatting articles covering the page rules in different states.
Your audio: uploads are deleted after 30 days by default, or you can keep a job until you delete it yourself. Recordings you make in the app stay until you remove them. Nothing you upload is ever reused for anything else.
