Samsara has improved the quality of data we receive as well as the ability to gather and share the same in a timely manner.
Pros
The equipment we received was good quality and easy to install. Software was simple to install.
Cons
As with any new system there is a learning curve but Samara's support team is there every step of the way. They will check on you weather you ask or not.

If you have a fleet of vehicles, get the Samsara system!
Everything about the system makes every aspect of our operation easier. The installation process is simple and can be done by anyone in our office. The online dashboard makes retrieving information easy. With having a 24/7 operation, having the ability to access the cameras anywhere and at anytime is reassuring. Since starting with Samsara we have saved money and time, which is priceless.
Pros
Since putting the Samsara system in our vehicles we have decreased our drivers idle time, eliminated dangerous driving behaviors in drivers and been able to verify client complaints. Our dispatchers are able to see where the vehicles are when clients ask why their ride is late. Our mechanics use the system to pre-diagnose issues with the vehicle.The system is an invaluable tool.
Cons
There are some vehicles that don't have all diagnostics available. We would like to see more interaction with all vehicles.

Disgruntled customer !!!HELP!!!
The sales team.were amazing and told us everything we wanted to hear. The client support phone staff try there best but have a difficult time understanding the issues and are quick to get you off the phone by saying they will send a link to solve the issue. Rarely do I receive a link and whn I do, it has nothing to do with issue.
The issues we are having are minor.to fix wirh the proper climet support staff. We still haven't found anyone that's willing to help since May 2024m
Pros
We switched our entire fleet from Motive to Samsara. Absolutely disappointed in the client support.I am aiming to switch back to Motive.
I've tested out four ELD platforms in the past seven years. Samsara is by far the worst platform so far when it comes to client support.
I can't figure out how anyone could give this platform more than one star.
Cons
Zero client support. I've been attempting to resolve several issues for over six months and have been ghosted by every support staff member.

We have all Samsara cameras
We have had cameras for several years and have liked them. We have a different company for the ELD and we are very happy with the ELD's but when we tried the cameras, they were not as good as Samara cameras as far as dependability, tracking and views. We converted all of our buses to Samsara cameras getting away from the others.
Pros
Installation of cameras was fairly easy, replacement was very easy. Tracking and updating pictures is better than our last vendor.
Cons
I would like to talk to someone when there is a problem instead of being directed to a library of how-to videos that take time and may or may not address the problem or question I am having.

A few problems, but a good option compared to others!
Overall, Samsara's best function is the trackability of assets and the ELD for our drivers. Driver logs are easy and user friendly for both drivers and safety admin and other personnel.
Pros
Samsara devices are easy to install, making tracking of equipment a breeze! Also, many, many reports are available for any time frame and groups!
Cons
Samsara behavior detection is often off and inaccurate. It would be nice if the external camara could detect the speed limit outside of the built-in google map speed limits. Samsara flags speeding on side roads, overpasses and other streets drivers aren't even on. It just isn't real time so there is a lot of investigating that has to be done to ensure your drivers are not speeding.

Top Quality System
Outstanding from the start to now. It was an easy install and setup. The support team was there with no tier levels. We spoke directly to an agent who could answer out question then.
Pros
Easy to Setup - Customer Service is knowledgeable and Reliable - The fault code notifications are valuable for safety purposes giving knowledge about our Fleet Repairs Needed.
Cons
That the price to car owners on a personal level isn't really feasible at this time. If and when it is I would love to do sales for this product. lol

Compliance Coordinator
Very positive. A few years ago, reliability or durability of the gateways and cameras could be an issue, but replacements were easy to acquire.
We ONLY use forward facing cameras and NO audio, yet the ability to coach and hold people accountable in the proper way is not an issue. Drivers don't feel spied on but do recognize their responsibility to represent themselves and the Company well.
Pros
The ability to track and pull video for driver vindication vs complaints, etc. Does away with the aggravation of not being able to definitively determine what took place. (Crash, Complaint or Commendation)

The billing is something of a maze to follow.

It's been overall a positive experience. Holding our drivers accountable and protecting us from bad situations they may come up against

Samsara has been decent to work with and the overall service has been great for our fleet. The dash cam safety scoring has been great for holding our driver's accountable and giving them extra incentive to keep it safe. Also it has protected our company from potentially bad situation via the driver's behavior or other vehicles on the road they may be dealing with.
Cons
Sometimes the cameras pick up on events that aren't actually happening (example: Mobile Usage) Driver's will be drinking coffee and it will pick it up as mobile usage

Samsara renewal is a joke
They are well above price of their competitors. Verizon's Connect is $5 per device per month cheaper and their customer service is unparalleled. They are quick to get your money and then ghost customers that have been loyal for over 3 years. They had so much going for them. But they have a 1.2 out of 5 rating on BBB and their google reviews are in the tank. They respond with a generic response but don't actually do anything.

The equipment works and we were able to track the vehicles. The ai feature works great.
Cons
The customer service. [sensitive content hidden] will not answer your messages or phone calls. We were suppose to do a renewal and he is absent. There is a bottleneck for the renewal where you can only deal with him. His management team doesn't intervene. You are left at his disposal. 3 weeks in the process of renewal with 7 systems failing. You can't buy replacements because you have to be in contract.

6 yrs with Samsara
They have very good response time on their customer service and. My drivers are not waiting for hours to talk with somebody on a problem. If it's a problem that is not resolved immediately they are quick to move it up the food chain and get the problem or issue solved. The thing I am not happy with is talking to someone in a foreign country.. when I get someone with a heavy accent I usually hang up and start over and hope for a better outcome. I can't understand them they can't understand me.
Pros
The hotspot and electronic logging device makes it very easy for our drivers to connect to any vehicles. Our drivers do a lot of slips leading and are not assigned to a specific truck. How easy it was for our drivers to change over to samsara it was a very simplistic system for them to learn and they caught on very quickly. Very few driver complaints and when there is one it's resolved quickly.
Cons
The extensive amount of new things they bring into the program make it almost impossible to keep up. It can be overwhelming for a company that has only one staff member for the safety department. There are a lot of things they offer that you just do not even have time to learn or utilize. I would prefer to be a little more simplistic.

Gret system that is easy to use
Samsara is a tool I use every day all day. When I talk to to other safety leaders I steer them towards smasara.
Pros
I have used numerous providers, samsara is #1 for me. Great support and very easy for admin and drivers to use.
Cons
The video capture can be a little time consuming. Diffacult to identify the time you need.

Good system. Customer service could use an upgrade.
It has been ok. They are not bad, but they are not excellent. They push you off to different departments, especially when renewals are due. When you call to ask for someone to help you with your account they just tell you where to look online for the details. Sometimes it would be just nice to talk to a person that knows what they are talking about.
Pros
It was a more established company at the time that we signed up. It was a Canadian contact at the time.
So far, after lengthy phone calls, we can usually source the problem with any discrepancies.
Cons
The inability to switch a new run to noon to noon or midnight to midnight without it switching all of the past logs. Sometimes our tours run differently and would work best on the other option than what the past tour ran on.
I don't like their renewal process and the lack of someone specifically looking after my account I keep getting sent to one department after another.

Great Product
Pros
So far we have found all aspects of Samsara to be great. I have been able to make our Truck Drivers safer by utilizing the safety score feature and adding it to our bonus structure.
Cons
I have had to update a lot of area on our maps for Speed as we are very rural and some area did not have any speed limits associated which caused my drivers to have speeding violations when they were not speeding.

I use Samsara daily! I track the fleet, check on DVIR's, dash cam footage, fuel & def gages. I coach through harsh events that come through in the safety inbox.
Pros
I love the video library and dash cams. Being able to edit and download dash cam footage is great. That feature has helped us in many ways! It has helped us in incidents such as accidents, tracking down the fleet and coaching drivers on harsh events. I love the safety reports! I love that we are able to create my own reports in Samsara. Samsara has helped us save money and that is awesome!

The videos from the dash cam footage takes a while to download. Overall, Samsara is great!

A Step into the Future
The overall experience with Samsara has been GREAT! The sales and technical support teams have been very helpful throughout the roll out process. We seen so much benefit out of the AG series of units that we began installing the VG series of units on our service trucks and other company vehicles. Having the ability to see all of our assets on one dashboard has made serving our customers much easier. We are able to dispatch technicians to down/failing equipment faster. Also being able to monitor a rental unit while it is on a jobsite has saved both our company and our customers money by avoiding costly downtime. No more wasted trips to service a unit that is not due.
Pros
Samsara has given us the ability to track the usage of our rental units much better than anything before. Knowing how often a unit is running helps not only capture lost revenue on rentals but also gives us the opportunity to stay more inline with manufacturer maintenance schedules to keep our equipment running in peak condition.
Cons
Some of the features that Samsara offers do not translate well in the equipment world. They seem to be more geared towards logistics and freight hauling.

DO NOT USE SAMSARA USE A DIFFERENT PLATFORM
We, as a company were introduced to Samsara and the product is good and the price WAS good. The initial pricing for the investment equipment is extremely high for what the product really is. We were sold a product and were told to use the Samsara system and see how we like it. We did just that. FOUR YEARS later they decided as a company to tell the customers that were sold their product at their price that they made a mistake and have to increase the bill by $4,000 annually or they will shut the features off that were promised initially at the cost we paid for four years. Their sales team sold a product, platform, and features at a price and now they want more per year. STAY AWAY FROM SAMSARA. They state that it was a mistake by their sales team. Their mistake their misleading sales pitch their people set up the account and put all the features in for these companies. They refuse to own their mistake and make it right. They even went as far as to say we are sorry but there are many customers that are affected and we don't care if we lose customers. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER RETENTION PRACTICE.

Support Response Times - some times it takes a while to get an answer and then it's just a link to the Samsara help site, that I told support I had already checked.
GPS/Speeds - GPS still pulls wrong roadways or shows the driver in a field. The speeds are still a manual update, stating the speed is 25mph when it's actually 55mph or 60mph.

It is becoming better with customer service. You have to really listen at times due to the accent of the agents.

Some of the recent changes have become very useful for us in our transportation business.

At times the app is cumbersome when changes are needed such as a mechanic moving a truck and the driver losing his reset time for a trip less than 2 minutes long.

I use it daily and would be lost without it.
Pros
Ability to track drivers in real time. I also like the ease of calling up videos which has been extremely beneficial in accident investigation as well as correcting bad behaviors.
Cons
Nothing I important I can think of. A minor annoyance is the sensitivity of the crash alerts. I sometimes get them when a truck hits a bump in the road or when hooking up a trailer.

Best bang for your buck
Pros
Samsara has been hands down one of the easiest telematics providers we have worked with. They have gotten the product out immediately, and made activating these devices seamless. They have also offered the best pricing that I have seen in the industry.
Cons
We still have not been able to get all the data points we want from our entire fleet. While Samsara has tried to help with some information, it feels we are still on our own to ultimately troubleshoot.
