Confluence became a fundamental part of our teams collaboration strategy. We use it as the go-to place for project and software documentation, eliminating shared folders and documents sent as email attachments. Easy to export in pdf if needed and easy to organize in folders and pages.

Cons

The history and diff mechanism need a revamp. It is not very easy to pick two versions and find out who did what in the document. Also the whiteboard is difficult to use if you need to add a checklist and text.

Its easy to create tables in confluence pages. But its hard to control the table formatting which comes with default template and size. There can be more technical symbols and drawing features.

It is simple to use and easy to navigate. It's UI blends extremely well with the rest of the JIRA management suite and links to tickets seamlessly.

This is a really powerful tool for taking notes, sharing datas, creating whiteboards, having box of ideas, create WBS, tracking your actions etc. This is a really easy tool proposng some basc templates and you can also use it in a more powerful sense with a bit more digging in the tool.

Sometimes the website is not the most attractive one, for example, the action tracker is really ugly. It could be nice also to have a data base that you can search of what are your possibilities on a page.

The collaborative document edition feature is really awesome! Intuitive, secure, fluid,... It's exactly what you can expect from such a feature. In particular, the merge function is really well done: only in rate cases the tool will ask you to decide which version to keep. In all other cases the tool make it transparently without mistake. Brilliant!

Cons

There is a native connection with Jira, from the same company (Atlassian) but I find it very limited. I would expect more enhanced reporting or chart features, beyond the current limited options. Jira is powerful but very few of its data are available in Confluence.
Also, one particular thing annoys me: there are very few options to change the text format. For example it's not possible to change the size of the text in "body".

I like how it feels like a virtual team hub where you can brainstorm, track projects, and access resources easily. Plus, it's simple to navigate and keeps things from getting lost in endless email chains!

It is very customizable and has many integrations, but the basics of word processing are very quick and easy to use right away. Confluence is evidently on par with its competitors from the moment you start using it, and only gets more impressive the deeper you learn about it.

The 3rd party integrations are not always well-vetted. It would be nice to have the more popular ones built-in and supported as core features which can be enabled. It's also frustrating to have several markdown languages active within Atlassian products in different areas.

Confluence is just a little different in how it accomplish a task, when compared to SharePoint, which means that a user well versed in SharePoint may struggle a little more than a newbie, just because they need to unlearn a few processes, which often makes those long term SharePoint users a little disenchanted by the product, but once they get over the learning curve, user acceptance on the product is very high.

One thing i liked the most was its version control meaning it track changes and maintain a history of edits. There are some limitations when setting page permissions. If you are familiar with server permissions, Confluence is not as flexible and easy.

Confluence is a well established, feature rich, easy to use and highly scalable collaboration tool. It makes writing and sharing documentation very easy. There is a vast library of (mostly paid for) plugins that can customise the experience.

It's expensive and the plug in system ramps up the cost considerably as well. Plugins have a habit of launching for free but after some time they start charging.
(usually shortly after you realise it's indispensable). They make it hard to remove and replace plugins.
Th search facility is not configurable and heavily weights results to more recent documents.

Two issues I've encountered with Confluence are the limitations on customization,which prevents me from making any adjustments and the restricted offline access.

Confluence is our go-to content management and knowledge based tool. The ability to create spaces by team or departments is really useful and my favorite feature is the ability to give permission by page instead of just by space. We have a main team focused on maintaining our knowledge base, but it's helpful that we can also assign unique individuals who are subject matter experts to also help that team update the content.

At times it feels like Confluence may be a bit too robust. It's a great content management system, but can sometimes over complicate a search for a particular page. It can take some time to locate the page you are looking because so many results pop up. You have to weed through the results to find the one you're seeking.

Confluence is the most trusted documentation player in the game. We use Jira for our engineering task management so naturally, the seamless vertical integration between the two tools is excellent. Confluence has an excellent template library and perhaps most importantly, the performance is always reliable. We can't use tools like ClickUp due to bugs and performance issues for long significant PRDs. The collaboration on confluence is excellent and permissions around editing is also important.
