Financial management services by ADP.
ADP Total source helps me every month to find my payroll details, my leave counts, my exception and tax deduction information very easily from one portal. It is very simple to use just login, and it starts working.
Pros
Very convenient method of managing payroll. I like the feature that can login anytime and keep track on our salary records, HR, benefits across the things.
Cons
It's difficult to understand some of features like managing taxes. I would love if reports will become more easily for benefits. Customer support is not very responsive.

ADP Totalsource - A great choice!
Very positive...I don't have to worry about that aspect of my business. ADP takes great care of us!
Pros
ADP takes care of all my payroll, benefits & HR needs so I can focus on my business.
Cons
ADP payroll processign fees seem higher than many other similar providers, however, I've found the total all-in cost including benefits is lower when compared apples-to-apples. Some other providers have tried to compete, but the benefit packages they have offered me are much more expensive OR have much higher deductibles and max out-of-pocket limits.

Long Time Customer
My overall experience has been rather well, which is why we have been a customer for so long. Our Account Executive is great to work with! Certain departments, like the tax department, need some work.
Pros
All in one platform for payroll, HR and benefits. You can onboard anyone anywhere in the U.S. at any time. Also, there is a wealth of resources and expertise. The technology is very good and easy to use.
Cons
There are so many departments and contacts to reach out to for each specific subject that I think this leads to a lack of accountability. Accountability as in certain departments, like tax, not responding to emails and not resolving issues timely. Also, I the admin fees are hidden in the workers comp rates so you never really know what your paying in admin fees.

Great but needs some improvement
Good. Payroll processing is simple and clear. Employee profiles are easy to access and update. Time off accruals and balances are easy to see and understand. Benefit enrollment is simple and clear. Employee experience is simple. The layout is easy to navigate.
Pros
Employee profiles are easy to move around and find on an individual basis any information you need.
Cons
The Support case system. It is hard to tell what is the most recent additions to the case. It just isn't built for clear documented discussions on issues. It's like you found a ticket system and just bolted it on and didn't check it out to see what it looks like on the user end. Also reporting could be better. Things like adding date ranges for data should be easier to set up for custom reports. And if we need a report created it takes weeks to get it done. No fast turnaround for special reports. Also need to improve during benefit enrollment the setting up of beneficiaries and dependents and the distinction. Employees get it messed up and then have to go back and make changes when they set up dependents as beneficiaries. Maybe some additional detail or walk through questions to help them determine which is which.

ADP TotalSource is a Real Asset to Small Businesses
As a small business, I find it a great help with running the office efficiently and freeing me up to concentrate on other tasks at hand.
Pros
ADP TotalSource saves me so much time especially with new hires. I don't have to remember when they qualify to receive benefits such as healthcare and 401K. They are sent enrollment emails automatically from ADP.
Cons
Their lack of transparency in billing always bothered me. However, they have recently updated their site and billing protocol. Though there was a learning curve to their new site in terms of inputting payroll, but thankfully they helped us through it with advance tutoring from a team member prior to the change over. My main ongoing concern is the lack of health insurance companies to choose from and the staggering costs. We are probably one of the only companies that still pays 100% for our staff's health insurance. We originally joined the PEO thinking we would get better rates being part of such a large group as opposed to rates for a small company. However, that does not seem to be the case. We have very limited choices and the prices go up double digits each year. We understand that is in part due to the terrible state of health insurance in the USA, which should not be for profit.
Reasons for Switching to ADP TotalSource
Their pricing was so close we figured, better the devil you know then to leap into an unknown group. After all, ADP has been around since 1949 (at least for payroll services) and that reputation made us feel safer.- Industry: Medical Devices

ADP TotalSource is an extension of our the Biorep team.
We've been with ADP for over 5 years. I think the experience has been enhanced by our account manager [sensitive content hidden]. She has always been very responsive and helpful. ADP has ensured we always stay compliant with all labor regulations so overall I've had a very positive experience.
Pros
ADP TotalSource is an extension of the Biorep Team. Being a small company, ADP TotalSource provides a professional HR platform that we can trust and rely on.
Cons
I feel the billing is not transparent and easy to follow. If I want to see how much an employee is costing the company, I have to have my ADP account manager do custom reporting for me. It's not easy to gather all the information including the costs of benefits, 401k retirement company contributions, wages, etc.

InsperityReasons for Choosing ADP TotalSource
ADP offered a clever solution that was money-neutral for the company but put money in the employee pockets by switching to a high-deductible healthcare plan but offering employees an HSA. Given our workforce is very young, they are not going to the doctor too often so the money in the HSA is for employees to keep if they are healthy.Switched From

The total source of frustration
My predecessor chose ADP TS in a hope to streamline and consolidate all of the payroll, benefit administration and HR management into one platform. The TS platform is very clunky and not intuitive at all - whether it be the prep of payroll, the access of reports, trying to decide what benefits you want - none of it was easy. I have used ADP Total Run for other employers and it is so easy and while you don't have a dedicated team, you can chat with someone pretty quickly and get your questions answered. I always had a hard time getting my questions answered with TS. The cost per employee compared to ADP Run or any other platform I have used was much higher and I could not figure out what I was getting for all of the extra fees. Also, they bury their fees in the workers comp and benefit admin stuff so you can't tell how much you are actually paying. I think this may have been my worse payroll experience in my 40 years as an accountant.
Pros
Almost nothing. I found very little to like about their software or support.
Cons
The support we received from our "team"? It was a random list of names of folks you could never reach or get a response if you emailed them.

Costly but Worth It
This company is the first company I've worked at that used ADP as its PEO. The fact that everything I could possibly need for payroll, HR, and compliance is available to me through ADP makes up for the cost. But the fact that ADP takes care of the majority of the annual/semi-annual/quarterly reporting as well as benefits makes the cost definitely worth it. I hope I never have to work without a PEO again! And as ADP is the largest (that I'm aware of), I hope my relationship with them continues!
Pros
I like that ADP is a one-stop shop, as far as payroll and HR are concerned, and they take care of a LOT of the reporting for our company, which is great for those of us who are constantly racing just to keep up with work on a daily basis.
Cons
The cost is high and there appears to be a lot of turnover at ADP.

Benefits Costs - little buying power
overall, fairly good. gets the job done.
Pros
Payroll processing, direct deposits, tax calculations
Cons
website is a little cumbersome to use. know how to do all the things it can do.
my big problem with ADP TotalSource is our health benefits. ADP represents 200,000 small businesses, 4.5 million employees? and there isn't good buying power regarding offering health insurance? limited choices, rates going up 23% in a year, several yrs in a row? with all those employees, we should get much better 'group' rates. Not subject to the cost increase of a 10 employee office that 1 employee had serious medical issues in the prior year. I expected better health insurance costs/offerings.

User Friendly HR/Payroll Application
I have thoroughly enjoyed using ADP. All Staff/Reps I have interacted with have been great. Always ready to help and always have an answer or know where to go to get the information.
Pros
I enjoy the ease of using ADP. Whether it is setting up employees or completing payroll. Any issues or instances that are out of the norm are easily remedied by calling Customer service or reaching out to your Reps.
Cons
Sometimes reports or information is difficult to find. Navigating the portal can be a hassle sometimes. Especially when you just want to be able to find yourself real quick, but just calling in to Customer Service remedies that. A rep can always navigate you. I do not like that there are muliple portals to have to log into.

Overall, experience has been excellent. Definitely has removed any payroll tax issues that could arise.
Pros
The best part about having ADP handle your payroll you have the confidence that they know the latest tax laws, and they own the responsibility for taxes all being paid on time and getting posted to the correct accounts
Cons
We have used ADP over 15 years I would say the only con we have had is if our representative has changed sometimes it takes a little bit of time to catch them up to speed on what we need from them

ADP TotalSource - I can't recommend them enough!
ADP TotalSource has helped us to manage our human resources efficiently and professionally for 16 years! They were a shining light in the darkness during Covid shutdowns. ADP helped us to manage layoffs when closures first occurred and we were forced to downsize temporarily, as well as to navigate the PPP Loan Application process with easily accessible reports customized for this purpose.
Pros
ADP TotalSource makes it easy to offer top quality HR services and benefits to our employees. I am able to print reports, make changes and obtain information quickly and efficiently from their Human Resource Information System. Best of all, their representatives are just a phone call away if I have payroll questions, legal concerns, or safety issues!
Cons
There has been a major push to go paperless, and reports that used to arrive with our payroll now must be accessed online and printed in house.

Lowest cost, but track record on service
Mediocre. If we could find another provider who is within 5% of ADP's cost, we would switch.
Pros
Overall cost seems to be the lowest - we evaluate other PEOs at least every other year, and no one has been able to beat the price.
Cons
We are in Massachusetts, which requires us to contribute to PFML. ADP pulls the funds for this but is chronically late in paying the state, resulting in additional fees and interest (which ADP has to pay), as well as dunning letters. The PFML administrators have told us that many Massachusetts companies that use ADP TotalSource have trouble getting these fees paid. Nonetheless, it is our responsibility to make sure ADP makes these payments. So, we spend a lot of time chasing them to ensure that the state gets paid.
The service is highly variable. For the most part, the service has been poor and has gotten worse over time. We currently have a couple of people supporting us who are very responsive and that's a nice change.
The underlying software systems seem outdated.

Not Cost Effective
It is important for small businesses to understand their costs at all times. If you decide to go with TS understand that you cannot change one part without unraveling everything. They lock you in and it is very difficult to make a change that makes the most sense for your business.
The HR component is not strong. HR is not involved, with the exception of benefits one time per year and the renewal of the contract. HR should not be involved with the nuances of health insurance. HR is also expected to understand the laws in each state and they don't which means they give bad or inaccurate advice.
Also, BE AWARE that the industry standard is that EPLI insurance is grandfathered in the event a company is sued. Not the case with ADP.
Also, our company is owed an ERC credit. Having a PEO actually slowed this process down, because the ERC company had to work through the layers of people at ADP. It's been over a year and I am still dealing with ADP and trying to get our refund.
Lastly, outsourcing allows small business to shop, be in control and determine what is best for their businesses as needs change. An example of this is the health insurance offered through ADP. It is expensive and is honestly terrible in comparison to shopping independently. I was told that ADP is the largest employer in the country and they had major negotiating power for the best benefits. This is 100% inaccurate (in my experience). I was able to get a much better policy for my employees at 75% of the cost! ADP is unaffordable and over-promises.
Pros
The payroll was the best part of TS. I am keeping the payroll and dumping TS.
Cons
HR is totally oversold. They are involved one time per year, when it is time to renew the contract and benefits. Other than that they do not partner on any level.

ADP TotalSource strengths
Good overall, especially in terms of payroll and compliance.
Pros
ADP TotalSource is especially good at payroll, there is a reason more companies use ADP than any other system. Also, the PEO services really help me stay compliant in a multi-state environment as a HR department of one.
Cons
Lack of negotiating flexibility with health insurance renewals.
