Flipgrid as a Video-Sharing Tool
No other software fares better than Flipgrid when it comes to utilizing videos as an interactive tool for classroom discussion. Due to the pandemic, it has been proven that tools like this one is imperative more than ever in making sure that distance learning gets effectively implemented.
With this tool, I can still connect with my learners. I can reach out to them for concerns, and they can give me feedback on their progress and their difficulties. Videos sent as responses to certain prompts are palpable evidences of their acquired knowledge and skills about different lessons.
It's so user-friendly and its interface is superbly interactive, a feature which will definitely hook and engage the students for a more sociable, interactive, and meaningful learning!
Pros
Flipgrid is a reliable tool educators and students can use (for free) to integrate ICT in the classroom. With this video-sharing application, learning becomes interactive, and so much fun!
As a classroom teacher, the software allows me to provide quality learning activities which a community of learners find interesting. With this app, geographical borders become insignificant. I can connect my students from all parts of the world. I can even invite resource speakers to give brief discussions on select topics. Learning and getting responses from my learners has never been this engaging!
Cons
I like the fact that it has plenty of engaging features that will definitely engage learners, however, this could sometimes be a distraction from focusing on the task at hand. This is high time where teacher's managing skills should come in. Moderating a bunch of students can be a hassle sometimes, but once the students have already been oriented about the dos and dont's in the platform, then this problem gets resolved eventually.

FlipGrid is fantastic for second language acquisition
Phenomenal. FlipGrid is an instrumental part of my teaching methodology, and I plan to continue using it across diverse academic disciplines.
Pros
I most liked the browser-based delivery of curated video content compiled by both students and instructors. Activities can readily incorporate supplemental materials from YouTube or elsewhere.
Cons
Overall, the site is darn-near perfect, but I'd like to see the refinement and iterative improvement of different tools. I wish the incorporated supplemental material, for instance, could be integrated more directly into assessment and engagement frameworks. For example, could you combine the features of EdPuzzle and FlipGrid into a common interface? Additionally, for recorded assessments, would it be possible, for instance, to restrict the number of times that a student could record? Lastly, I'd love to see some kind of integration that would facilitate the recording of remote dialogues between groups of students.

gridpals not the same as years past
Recently, not good. Please bring back gridpals ♥
Pros
I loved that in 2021 we could browse a list of educators around the world and connect with teachers that would respond to our language videos.
Cons
Now we can't do that, and i have hundreds of students wanting to connect with other students their age to promote second language acquisition.

Is it a bandwidth issue?
My students interact with each other on various topics. FG is great for that WHEN everyone can post in a timely fashion. This is my only complaint. Video quality is great. Sometimes audio does not record, which is also frustrating. Students who never have a problem have a very positive experience! But, for the 10% who do, and it is at least that high, FG leaves them frustrated with the app and with the class! NOT good!
Pros
In general, my students are able to create good videos; most learn how to incorporate images in their journals easily. This is a key component, so if instructions were even clearer, that would excellent. I appreciate the availability of statistics from FG, but what I miss is the grading rubric. That was quite valuable to me.
Cons
The biggest problem I see is that too often, students experience bandwidth problems. Given that they are on the same MAJOR university campus, the problem is not at their end. Making a video only to have it not save and render is frustrating. When it happens repeatedly, students become very anxious about their assignments. Honestly, if there were a more reliable platform, I would use it. I have a class of 50 students.

We love to Flip!
Flip has transformed video creation in my classroom. I use it as a digital portfolio for my students. We also make time capsules in September and watch them again in June to see our progress.
Pros
Flip is an amazing tool that allows students to show what they learned in a creative way. We love that you are able to record on any device, there are constant updates which make it more user friendly, and it's well liked by students and staff.
Cons
Student digital safety is always a concern. Flip does a great job of tackling this issue, but you need to know how to moderate videos so it works for your population of students.

Communicate by Flipgrid
It is a video discussion platform, free for educators and students (via Educator Dashboard). Teachers create assignments and share the links or embed them on the LMS (Google Classroom, Teams, Canvas). Students respond in video format. They comment on peers’ work via video or text and have class discussions. The platform is appropriate for project presentations and video journals as well. To make the most of it, teachers usually give video feedback. It can be basic (commenting on students’ performance and clarity of expressing ideas) but also with a rubric and criteria. Teachers might moderate the recorded videos and approve them before being posted. Parents may join each topic like guests, send messages, and give family interviews. Businesses can also benefit from Flipgrid using the paid version.
Pros
The app is user-friendly, and its integration into the learning process is easy. Students only enter by Flipgtid code generated automatically when the assignment is ready. Making a video response and posting it to the topic is simple too. Teachers organize their classes in Groups, create Topics with instructions, and spark discussions. They can add co-leads to the topic. My Grids is the page to host students’ videos grouped in cards with titles and images each. Via the GridPals feature, teachers can connect with Flipgrid educators from around the world. The Discovery page is a library with all the videos posted on the platform, sorted into levels and subjects. You can record the video in chunks, which is the most impactful feature in my view; the passage between them goes smoothly. You might trim and edit the recording, then add effects and music. The other features available are sticky notes and attachment links. You can turn some of the effects off to avoid distractions. Camera-shy students may use filters or stickers to reduce anxiety. And above all, students’ creativity with the camera should be encouraged.
Cons
The only setback for me is the time restriction. Recording short-form videos is an ideal solution for school children. But some assignments are complicated and aimed at students or adults of higher levels; in such cases, it would be good to have more time for elaboration.

Love Flipgrid!
I thoroughly enjoy using Flipgrid as a participant, and I am excited to use it in my classroom as the teacher. I think it increases engagement, and makes learning feel like less work for the same amount of brainpower.
Pros
Flipgrid is very fun and easy to use. As a graduate student, it was an easy way to post my thoughts without having to write paragraphs to answer questions. I found that it increased engagement in my class, as I could listen to my peers' thoughts while seeing their faces when we couldn't be in class together physically.
Cons
There was one time that I missed the post button and somehow deleted my video response instead of posting it. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but it was frustrating to lose my video and have to re-record it. However, after that, I was mindful of where I was clicking, and never had that problem again. I'm not sure if it was user error, or just a random glitch.

The best tool for online interaction through text and audio/video
Overall I am completely happy with this product and would recommend 100%
Pros
Flipgrid is fantastic! I love that you can create a space for individuals to answer a common question or theme. I've seen Flipgrid used to build community in spaces by responding to a prompt for a holiday, tradition, or month (i.e. Pride month individuals in a dorm may have all posted and/or responded to a prompt about who they want to celebrate.) I've seen it used in corporate setting and in religious settings. It's a multifaceted tool that allows individuals to respond to each other asynchronously and build community in a way that I haven't found elsewhere.
Cons
One of the few cons with Flipgrid is that the editing can seem limited. While there is some capacity for editing the video it is the bare minimum.

Excellent and interactive platform for learners.
It is the best platform if you want to have a best and interactive class without having to gather in one room together since it is simple, effective and efficient.
Pros
Has great features which help students share quality videos for others who have not understood, comment on the videos as well as discuss on the way forward. It is easy to use it and also its adjustability is fast. It's very user friendly and it's interface is marvelously interactive. It is also free and limitless thus anyone can use it whichever period they want to. It's integration with google classroom makes it more effective and efficient. Breaks the geographical boundaries since you can see the videos, images and even documents shared by your colleagues all over the world.
Cons
Though it has magnificent features which makes it more friendly , these features can sometimes interrupt a student while focusing on the main task. Some of the features may not work if the application is not updated and also the application does not support lower version of android.

Students love to video themselves!
Flipgrid is a great tool and I had a very positive experience. I plan on using it more often in the coming school year even during face to face learning. Students have fun making videos and they participate more willingly. I received great feedback from the kids and received better answers to discussion questions than when I asked for a written response.
Pros
Students usually have a fear of public speaking. Using Flipgrid, students can video themselves answering questions, making presentations and participating in discussions. This is a great tool to introduce students to public speaking. Kids today are very comfortable with creating videos on their social media, and this is a way to incorporate that into the classroom to make it more engaging and to encourage participation. Flipgrid is integrated with Canvas and was a great tool for distance learning as well.
Cons
I didn't have any issues with the software in my experience. I was introduced to this product during a teacher inservice to help educators create lessons during distance learning.

Flipping over Flipgrid
I’ve used fligrid as an educator for many years and students know that it’s used for educational purposes and realize they should post appropriate content.
Pros
It’s a safe, administrator controlled environment that has many useful features, such as sub folders and recording sessions up to 10 minutes.
Cons
You have to manually increase the recording session for over a minute. It would be nice to have the features as drop-down choices at the beginning of a Flipgrid.

Great for use in flipped classrooms
Pros
This is an easy-to-use software that can also be integrated into Learning Management Systems. Provides a great opportunity for more compelling learning.
Cons
There are a lot of features, so it could be easy to get lost in exploring those. Additionally, the free version doesn't allow for much customization.

Flipgrid for Introductions and Assignments
Great experience using this program. When I first starter I must say I was challenged in setting up everything. I am in no way a techie type of person. After trial and error I was able to get everything set up correctly.
Pros
I think the ease of use makes this a great program. We use this program to allow our summer program participants to upload an introductory video of themselves that can be shared with the other students in the class. Students are also assigned a task of watching a video and then uploading their response to a prompt related to what they just viewed. Flipgrid enables me to upload the video and set certain time parameters for them to submit their uploads. Students get to watch their peers introductory videos and make comments back and forth. Program stafff are able to watch the student's video responses. Flipgrid can be accessed on computer or mobile device. Flipgrid also provides a listing of all participants in the particular group along with their email addresses so individuals can contact one another.
Cons
Some individuals were challenged with uploading their videos. After walking them through the required steps they were able to upload their videos. It really isn't difficult to do.

Fun medium for discussion and feedback
I have enjoyed using flipgrid and have encouraged others to give it a try.
Pros
I love that flipgrid allows people to make and edit videos. The added stickers and other frames let them creative too. I like the administrative features where I can approve before the group sees the videos and I can also privately compliment or give feedback. Using QR codes to get them straight in was also helpful.
Cons
I wish that there was more integration with other Google features maybe a share the screen or the ability to copy text would be nice.

Flipgrid is an excellent tool for student learning and engagement
Pros
I use Flipgrid to help students develop their critical thinking and intellectual reasoning skills. Students are required to video record weekly reflections on their learning of course material and content. Flipgrid is a great way to help students improve their communication skills and video presentation abilities.
Cons
Flipgrid is a great tool, but it can be technically complicated to integrate the application with other products like the Canvas learning management system. I recommend that the program be developed to make it easier for integration.

Snapchat for the classroom
Setting it up is super easy, staying organised with topics is really simple and the amount of tools you can embed as attachments is staggering. The possibilities really seem endless.
Pros
I love the fact that Flipgrid allows me to hear my students asynchronusly. I can give them assigns over the course of the week and it is entirely up to them when they feel like answer. Especially when teaching a foreign language, giving students the option of practicing their skills in the safety of their own house and at a time of their choosing is incredibly valuable.
Cons
Educator have the option of creating "shorts" - that's a video that is not connected to a certain topic (think folders in Flipgrid). I really wish students would get that option, too. If they could make their own videos about whatever they wanted, it would enable them to unleash their creativity and easily share their products.

Flipgrid...know what your students know
Flipgrid has been amazing. The best experience and the one that got me hooked was a number of years ago I had students doing an engineering project and usually have them write a reflection about the project. When I had done this there was a particular student who did not write well at all and his reflections tended to make me believe he was not getting the concepts or understanding I had been wanting. However when I gave the option of doing a Flipgird vs. a written reflection I was blown away by what he knew, he just couldn't get it from his head to the page, but when he could just speak and record it his understanding was evident! It is a must use.
Pros
The best part of Flipgrid is the price...FREE. How many platforms are out there that are free update features often and support educators? I'll tell you not many! Flipgrid is easy to use, engages students, is versatile, and fun for the students.
Cons
I really don't believe there is anything missing from Flipgrid, it's free, they update constantly, take feedback from educators and support educators. That is all I can ask for in a company!

Engaging tool to use with second language learners
I love using Flipgrid in my COM 101 courses. Its a great way to engage students and prepare them to share videos of their assigned speeches. Its a informal, low stakes way to get the ball rolling with online sharing of speeches. Also, I love that students can interact through comments on other participants' posts. While the LMS I use has a Discussion Board feature, adding Flipgrid to my instruction helps engage the students with a different type of interaction.
Pros
What I like about Flipgrid is its ease of use and the opportunities it provides my second language learners to share their ideas. Some students are stronger with their oral skills so being able to video and easily share both their own unique post and on other participants is great!
Cons
I would like it if Flipgrid would integrate with LMSs (i.e. Canvas) it would help with grading for students.

Great for classroom use
Using Flipgrid is a no-brainer. To be able to have fun with timed responses and to be able to use a variety of offerings in this virtual/electronic/online world are paramount tools.
Pros
Absolutely user-friendly icons and abilities make it easy for me to assign students a task and have them complete well. When schools shut down in March, I used Flipgrid to make supplemental video lessons, and it was easy for them view each little episode. They, too, submit introductions to me as well as pitching ideas, etc... The best part is that my children use it for their elementary school classes, and my high school students use it in their classes. It's clearly an easy option that packs a lot of punch.
Cons
It's likely entirely my doing, but I can't easily find my old Flipgrids. Maybe I archived them somewhere. It's not relevant to my classes now, so it's no big deal. I suppose it took some clicking around and then my letting it go, so maybe if it were just easier to find old sessions, that would be great.

I love the concepts
I never had to use customer service but I heard it’s fantastic. My class enjoyed using this in conjunction with our nearpod. It seemed to work best when I combined the two.
Pros
The concepts deployed in their program are great. It has a lot of similar features to google slides but google makes it easier to use. I like being able to share it easily with my class without having them all needing a log in.
Cons

Flipgrid in K-12
Flipgrid is a wonderful tool for the classroom! With having virtual and quarantined students this year, it has allowed those students to continue to participate and engage in learning from home.
Pros
As a K-12 Instructional Technologist, I commonly recommend Flipgrid to my teachers. It is used for a variety of lessons and activities. I also use it during Professional Development. I love how it is engaging and offers an easy way to collaborate and share with a wide audience!
Cons
Some of the issues we have experienced in previous years have already been addressed with recent updates. One common recommendation from teachers was a longer record time and that was updated for this school year.

My review o fFlipgrid
I find it easy to use, but there is much work to do with my pupils to get them to learn with the app. Time will tell if I succeed.
Pros
While I find that having my English as Foreign Language teenage pupils interact in groups with teens from another country is useful, I have found the suggested activities provided by the Flipgris team are what I like most. I hope to make more use of Flipgris this school year. I also like the fact that it provides pupils with the possibility of having text read to them (this is crucial for struggling pupils and for those who require dispensations. Accessibility matters)
Cons
In fact, the only drawback I have experienced is the reluctance of teenage pupils to expose themselves by unloading videos where they appear. I hope I can overcome this problem

User Friendly Communication and Response Tool
Pros
I really like that there are a variety of ways for students and staff to respond to assignments, topics, etc. it's user friendly and easy for people to access. It makes grading a breeze when you can watch or listen to a response.
Cons
There is one part that's a little tricky and it the area where you try to publicly share the grid for responses. I found that I'd have to be not logged in on another device to make sure that I'd be able to access this from a parent/student point of view.

FlipGrid is a Teacher's Best Friend!
I've been able to use FlipGrid for student projects such as monologue performances, oral book reviews, movie pitches and more!
Pros
The app is extremely easy to use and introduce to high school students, who are used to taking selfie videos of themselves. It is an excellent tool to address speaking and listening standards.
Cons
I'd like to see the response options expanded to include written text.
