Word does everything you need it to, and even some things that you don't!

Word is great and offers everything that you could need a word processor to do. Most people just use it for basic tasks, and it can do that, but it can also do so much more!

Pros

Word is an ESSENTIAL! The familiarity is what makes it great, it's what most of us have grown up using.

Cons

Autosave should be active even if you aren't saving to OneDrive! Why is this not an option? I've had a couple of times that I've been working on a document, and then unfortunately the computer or Word itself crashes... and my progress is lost!

Alternatives Considered

Stuck in the Past

My overall experience with Microsoft Word is positive. However, I still remember many times, years ago, when I would work on a document for hours and then I would either forget to save it or it wouldn't save properly and I would lose everything! I think other products have now surpassed Microsoft Word and I rarely use it anymore unless forced to by colleagues at work.

Pros

Microsoft Word was, for years, the main document processing application. It held the top for so long because it did have great functionality. So much so that entire classes were taught on how to use all the intricacies of it. It is a very powerful tool.

Cons

The more I used other products, like google, the more Microsoft Word started to feel outdated. The functionality of the product felt worse and worse and I felt more lost.

Word: An Industry Pillar

Pleasant, easy, and very often. I use word to convert pdfs, to write knowledge base articles, to provide the formatting I will use to draft emails. There isn't a part of my professional life that word is not touching.

Pros

If there's anything to take from Microsoft Word, it's remembering that it is the industry giant. In compatibility, usability, and reliability you won't find another product that even breaches the tip of the iceberg that Microsoft word does. There is little to say about word that isn't positive. It's cloud features, built in, are robust and reliable.

Cons

There is an awareness, because of our digital age, that you need to have on macros. Word, like the other office products, may be at risk- putting you at risk. Be mindful. It isn't that word is inherently unsafe or dangerous, no more than your email is because a phishing link is clicked.

Alternatives Considered

Reasons for Switching to Microsoft Word

It just works better. There really is no comparison. While Libre might have useful features, its no beast. It's comparing a Bicycle to a MotorCycle in terms of looks, features, and performance.

There's a reason this one survived

I've used (and taught people to use) word processing programs for more than 30 years (anyone remember Word 6?), and produced everything from web pages to book-length documents using it. Over the years it has become a reliable and multi-featured product, but the "look and feel" are stable.

Pros

While there are still good and popular options out there (Sheets and Google Docs), for education purposes Word is the standard: it's compatible with LMS systems, stable, has lots of features, and is convertable between applications and formats.

Cons

Maybe a few too many features? I'm not a fan of its aggressive automation either, although I do still appreciate spell check. The real concern is cost, which is helping shift education systems to Google options.

The standard in word processing, with an historical approach.

Writing on your device still needs a good software and this is the needed standard as word processor. But not always the easiest, fastest or simpliest.

Pros

The standard in word processor, you are sure you'll open the document as it was designed. You have what you need, also for professionals need.

Cons

UI is generally over-complex and suffers from a historical approach. Also considering ther competitors (Apple Pages overall).
Reviewing rocks, but when you work a lot in teams at a certain point you lose yourself in indiscernible lists.
Working with many columns, layout interruptions and paragraph can bring you to a situation like "document has its own independent life that rejects any new formatting".

Alternatives Considered

Pages and Google Docs

Reasons for Switching to Microsoft Word

Word still is the standard for collaboration in professional writing.

Microsoft Word: A Perspective on Collaboration and Ease of Use

Overall, Microsoft Word is my preferred word-processing platform and has expedited my ability to collaborate with teammates, especially in governance-related matters.

Pros

I like the revised features of Microsoft Word and its ability to be my central word-processing platform. The inclusion of Microsoft Word in the Office 365 space, adds a layer of collaboration and automation.

Cons

There are times when Microsoft Word can be a bit buggy. For me, this traditionally occurs when formatting documents into a Word file. Using the paragraph feature can sometimes mitigate this, but there are times when you have to do additional troubleshooting which can be a time grab.

As the company admin, MS Word is often the most familiar application for users. It's been around forever and most users have some familiarity from previous employment or school. Getting users to work with it in cloud form is not a difficult transition.

Pros

Whether or not you are a Microsoft user, Word is a necessity for word processing. It is universally recognized as the industry standard. I have used MS Word for over 30 years and it continues to improve.

Cons

I have no complaints about Word. It continues to get better.

Excellent Software Option for Writers

Microsoft Word is one of the gold standard software options for writers and is pretty easy to use but can be costly as it is subscription based through Microsoft 365 so if you're looking for something cheaper another software may be more in your ballpark.

Pros

I love having options when I'm writing and Microsoft Word has so many different formatting options to choose from along with tons of different document templates for different projects.

Cons

A couple of things that I don't like are that it is part of a subscription program which can get pricey and it depends heavily on a stable internet connection which can be inconvenient for users in rural areas like myself as our Internet connection is anything but stable at times.

Microsoft Word - five stars

I use Word every day to create and read documents.
It has a lot of features, not only "text related" (e.g. you can insert images, graphs, create tables, protect your file with password...). I tried other products for word processing, but Microsoft Word is the best.

Pros

I think Microsoft Word is the best text editor ever. During the years it has been improved a lot (but it was already the best at its beginning). Creating a document (for example a letter, a manual, a gift card or banner) is really easy, plus you can choose among a lot of templates instead of starting from zero.
The interface is simple and clean, in the home section you have most of the features you need. Just choose the font and its size if you don't like the default ones. You can save your files as docx but also you can convert them to pdf thanks to microsoft print to pdf (simply press CTRL P and choose the virtual printer).
Word is a stable program, runs smooth and you can interact with files created with older versions without any problem.

Cons

Obviously you have to buy the office suite to use Word, but it's worth the price (there are many plans available).

Pros

What I like about word is that you can easily update your work and your co workers can also update the same thing if needed. It is easy to use and we utilize it everyday for a multitude of things.

Cons

Not a whole lot to not like about it other than maybe all the features can be overwhelming if you are not familiar with it.

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word is pretty solid overall. It’s basically the go-to for writing anything—essays, reports, resumes, you name it. The layout is super clean and easy to navigate, so you can start typing without much hassle. Plus, it has a ton of formatting options, which is awesome when you want your stuff to look polished. Word can get slow and laggy with big documents, and the price can be a turn-off if you don’t already have Microsoft 365. There are free alternatives like Google Docs, but Word definitely has more features if you need them.

Pros

Microsoft Word is seriously one of the best tools for writing out there. It’s super easy to use. The layout is clean, and everything you need is right in front of you. If there's something you can't find, there is bound to be a tutorial online about it.
You can customize everything—fonts, styles, colors, whatever you need. Templates are a lifesaver when you don’t feel like starting from scratch, especially for resumes or reports.
You can share docs with others and work on them at the same time, perfect for group projects. You can also add comments and track changes easily, so everyone stays on the same page.
Linked to OneDrive, it backs up your work automatically, so you don’t have to worry about losing anything. Word is solid, whether you’re writing an essay, working on a group project, or putting together something professional.

Cons

It's not perfect. It can be kinda slow, especially if you’re working with a big document. Sometimes it lags or freezes, which is super annoying when you're trying to get stuff done quickly.

Word - Nothing Better

Great, if I have a document need it's the go to source. I would not use any alternatives as it's simple and easy to create any document that I may need.

Pros

Microsoft Word is the gold standard for creating documents. Simple to use, can easily save and send, and the ability to edit the document to fit your needs is significant.

Cons

The only issue is that there are certain times where I will need to add images and if there are multiple images, the interface can get wonky. I have encountered minor bugs that make me have to start with a completely new document.

Microsoft Word has rightfully stood the test of time. It's organizational features, ease of use, and pre-designed templates can be a great addition for organizations that need functionality, customization, and proper organization with their important documents.

Pros

Microsoft Word is a user-friendly system that makes creating and organizing files a simple process.

Cons

Adding more fonts would be a plus! Also, if there is a way to integrate design systems into Microsoft that would be a fantastic because of the nature of my job. Although I am the Front Desk Receptionist Manager at Calvary University, I often do graphic design work for posters, slides, etc.

Cons

It would be awesome to see more grammar correction features similar to Grammarly.

A solid word processor that goes beyond drafting

For years I have trusted Microsoft Word over other word processors. It is the gold standard for a reason. You are able to draft, edit, share and convert your documents easily and effectively, which saves time and energy.

Pros

Its interface is so user friendly. It also has all the features I need to draft documents and share proposed edits with others.

Cons

I wish that formatting was a little easier as sometimes numbering, spacing or margins can be hard to alter when copying and pasting from one word document to another.

Microsoft Word is the best in creating/printing great documents

Overall, I love using Word documents to complete my school assignments, as well as doing my work tasks. This product makes printing the pages very easy as well. I am able to adjust the text as needed and change any settings I want to make my documents look the best.

Pros

I love using this product for any assignments I have at school, and I use it a lot at work for typing data and information, reports, editing documents, etc. This is the best product for creating the papers I need for work tasks, like lab data tables sheet, information on a topic, and more.

Cons

I don't like that at times, the Word document gets slow since there might be too much information listed. However, I don't mind this as much since my documents are usually pretty short.

Word Up.....fast

This is the complete word processing application that always works smoothly. The overall cost of the software is a little higher than i think should be asked but all in all it is well worth every penny when you save time and headache in the long run.

Pros

Microsoft Word is an all in one, easy to use, professional and feature rich word processing application that never lets me down and gets the job done quickly and beautifully.

Cons

I dont like the selection of fonts provided by microsoft. I had to download some of my own and added them manually.

Easy To Use and work with

I have always had a great experience using Word, for handling documents and contracts. The ease of use and the ability to see all pages as a grid have been the best discoveries for displaying document products to show how many pages are available. Recovering unsaved documents after a power crash or other unexpected closing has been a lifesaver.

Pros

Things I like:
-Saving files in different formats
-Opening PDF files for editing
- Adding customizations to a document
- Locking documents
-Sharing documents to track access
-Notes in documents for collaboration
- Saving documents can be on your computer or cloud
- Unsaved document recovery

Cons

- Not free to use
- PDF conversions are not always right
- Some documents saved are hard to find since default saving sometimes changes after updates

Classic and Dependable, the most consistent Microsoft app to date

Overall, Word is a classic and it is very dependable.

Pros

Microsoft Word Pros:
Efficiency is and always has been peak standard.
Word is extremely easy to use and learn on your own.
Word creates the ability to create PDF's out of most documents and pictures.
I find the word count, paint brush feature, and the ability to insert pictures from Clip Art or just from online sources super helpful

Cons

Although Word is super simple to use, it has not changed much in the last 15 years and could use some new features.
I do not like how difficult it can be to paste a picture and move to where you would like it on the page.
I feel like Word is very basic and should come on your PC for free like it used to.

The Word of Microsoft

I started to use it from my childhood when I learn keyboard writing. I fall in love with Word and I'll never change it for another software, even if I tried for a few times. I realized that Microsoft has done a beautiful job with it.

Pros

It is an historical institution of the writing software that has been received so different updates over the years and now is up-to date for the daily needs (AI functions, web cloud)

Cons

The fact that on different devices you have to pay for different subscription instead of unite them to incentive people to buy it

Microsoft Word is Familiar as a Friend

Overall, despite some tabs, it is still user-friendly and easy to navigate for basic task. Compare to other tools, this one is familiar to senses and looks good to users when it comes to editing. Choice of color for the tool itself is not hurtful to the eyes, especially when you are in need to look at the document for a very long time.

Pros

Microsoft Word is easy to use. New user friendly and feels familiar to senses, making it easy to learn to navigate. I like that it has auto-correct and you can use it without having to use another AI program to assist you with grammar and sentence building.

Cons

Some of the tabs for further editing needs further studying for navigation like the picture editing or column insert, some of the function on this part is not obvious. You'd need to further dig in to learn.

An excellent application but too complicated to use.

It's familiar to me because I've been using it for a very long time, but even so, it is still tough to use because it's not user-friendly.

Pros

It's a standard for word processors, so anyone in the world will be able to read your documents using Word or many other compatible applications.

Cons

Sometimes it isn't easy to achieve the desired results, especially with formatting. In my opinion, Word has a very steep learning curve.

Pros

Great for typing.
Header ad Footer feature is a addition to documents.

Cons

Having to create/draw my own table is a nightmare, and when using online Word, the auto correct would change from the correct word to an incorrect one.

Honest review about Microsoft world in a data entry jobs.

Overall, still better than other apps in terms of data entry jobs.

Pros

Microsoft world is a very useful apps in our account(BPO Company). It helps us enter the details of candidate's resume easily into our own system. Doing the copy-paste-ing in PDF is so troublesome because of their feature that will lead you to a website or detect a signed which will cause to open other unnecessary tools and the crazy part is there is no way to turn it off. Microsoft word making the job of data entry easier.

Cons

Sometimes, I am experiencing lagging using this but it still manageable. Perhaps, I'm not sure if the problem is with the computer or the apps itself.

Cons

I’ve been using it for decades. Previously you bought Microsoft Suite. I don’t like that we pay yearly or monthly.
