> ECP eMAR is an electronic medication administration record system built specifically for assisted living communities. It manages medication administration, documentation, compliance, and pharmacy coordination in one system designed around how med pass actually works in assisted living, not adapted from hospital or skilled nursing workflows.

Medication errors in assisted living carry real consequences. Documentation gaps create compliance exposure. Staff turnover makes consistent med pass harder to maintain. ECP eMAR is built to reduce those risks through accurate records, automated workflows, and pharmacy integration that eliminates manual transcription at the source.

Who Uses This
ECP eMAR is used by med techs, nurses, care staff, directors of nursing, and community leadership. It is designed to be fast and intuitive enough for frontline staff documenting in real time during med pass, and detailed enough for clinical leaders who need visibility into administration accuracy and compliance. Staff can get up and running quickly without extensive training.

The Pharmacy-Initiated Model
ECP's eMAR is built around a pharmacy-initiated model. ECP is partnered with 850+ pharmacy partners and orders flow right into the platform, automatically building each resident's medication record. This means staff are not manually transcribing orders from paper or fax, which is where most transcription errors occur. When a pharmacy updates an order, it updates in ECP. The record stays accurate at the source.

This is one of ECP's most significant differentiators. Most eMAR systems require manual order entry or a separate import process. ECP's pharmacy-initiated model removes that step entirely for communities working with one of 850+ integrated pharmacy partners.

Medication Safety
ECP eMAR includes AI-powered medication safety tools that identify potential errors before they occur and flag unusual administration patterns. Staff receive real-time alerts for missed or late doses so nothing falls through the cracks during a busy med pass. All 8 medication rights are built into every administration workflow.

Controlled substance management, PRN administration tracking, automatic inventory tracking, and electronic reorder requests are all included.

Med Pass Workflows
Care staff work through automated med pass task lists that reflect each resident's current medication schedule. The system is designed for speed and accuracy. Documentation is completed at the point of care, keeping records current and reducing the end-of-shift catch-up that creates errors and gaps.

Key Capabilities
- Pharmacy-initiated medication records
- Automated med pass task lists
- Real-time alerts for missed and late meds
- AI-powered medication safety and error detection
- All 8 medication rights built into every administration
- Controlled substance tracking and counts
- PRN administration documentation
- Automatic inventory tracking and electronic reorders
- Audit-ready administration logs
- Custom alerts for follow-ups, vitals, and questions

Part of ECP's All-In-One Platform
ECP eMAR is one module within ECP's all-in-one platform, which also includes EHR, CRM, Move-Ins, Billing, and Insights. All modules share a single resident record. Medication documentation connects to care plans in the EHR. Clinical documentation connects to billing charge capture automatically. Operators who use the full platform eliminate the fragmented workflows that come with running separate systems for clinical, sales, and finance.

Key Facts
Communities served: 8,500+
States: All 50
Pharmacy integration partners: 850+
Support: 100% US-based
Deployment: Cloud-based, browser and mobile, no local installation required

## Reviews

### "eMAR implementation from an LTC pharmacy specialist" — 5.0/5

> **Dan** | *2 June 2021* | Pharmaceuticals | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Charting is very straightforward in ECP. Printing MARs or face sheets for doctor visits, etc is incredibly easy. Overall eMAR setup is an efficient use of time to streamline communication between staff and prevent errors in med administration.
>
> **Cons**: Initial integration can be time-consuming for larger communities, but ECP can walk you through the process. Other software options in my opinion would come with their own drawbacks - not give as safe an end result (ECP's med order check-in process where you "accept" and verify new orders the pharmacy enters versus, say, facility-oriented medication order entry; though that is also available in ECP) and would be less tailored to your needs.

### "An all inclusive approach to charting in long term care" — 5.0/5

> **Nicole** | *11 May 2021* | Hospital & Health Care | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: I am very happy that system was created by someone who actually understands what we need in a charting system for a long term care facility. It is user friendly, it follows our regs, it covers all of our charting needs and it evolves to meet the new needs that arise.
>
> **Cons**: At first it was not user friendly with tablets and phones but this has all changed. Now it is as user friendly on the desktop as it is on my phone or tablet.
>
> As the administrator and as a trainer for the medication administration course I feel that this is a much safer way of charting. I like that only the medications that should be passed at a particular time show on the screen. Also, I like the feature to be able to prep and then pass...this tells me if my staff is taking the time to correctly apply the rights of medication administration. Also, I like that it cues for vitals and that you can apply questions to be answered before the person is allowed to pass the medications. It is also very helpful that it gives alerts when medications are heading toward the end of 1 hour passing window.
The use of applying questions to both the administrations and follow-ups of PRN psychotropics create better administration parameters and justifications. The history section of the program assists when providing accurate feedback and information for physician when discussing PRN psychotropics and pain medications.

### "One stop shop" — 3.0/5

> **Amy** | *2 June 2021* | Hospital & Health Care | Recommendation rating: 7.0/10
>
> **Pros**: I enjoy having everything from access to investigations, cleaning charts, and resident medications all in one spot.
>
> **Cons**: I feel there could be an easier way to store documents. It would be nice to have subtitles or additional folders within the folder to organize better.

### "Barb Hammer's Revies" — 5.0/5

> **Barb** | *28 June 2022* | Mental Health Care | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Implementation of this new software was seamless. I expected growing pains for the first 6 months. We are in month 3 now and this software meets ours day to day business needs. Customer Support is outstanding\! They are always quick to respond and never leave you until the issue is resolved.
>
> **Cons**: The drop down box for "No pass" needs to be customized to fit my business reasons for not passing meds. A supervisor or higher management should be able to add reasons in the drop down for no pass.
>
> Naturally going to electric MAR is cost effective and less paper usage. Also using an electronic form of the MAR is easier than filing all those paper MAR and keeping them for 10 years.

-----

### "Easy to use" — 4.0/5

> **Brenda** | *12 May 2021* | Hospital & Health Care | Recommendation rating: 9.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Our pharmacy is able to integrate with the our system. For pharmacy review they have access to our information and are able to obtain the information they need. It is so very easy to use. I get staff who are not familiar with computer systems and have little to no issues with the program.
>
> **Cons**: I would like to be able to create my own reports when I need them; and I don't have that ability. I know ECP will help create what I want but that takes time.
>
> I am not able to think of faults with the mar except one. When a drug is ordered daily prn staff have to override the system unless it is over 24 hours. Same thing if ordered number of doses not necessarily number of hours between a dose.
