Several advantages for businesses looking to scale and expand
When thinking about Shopify Plus, it's critical to assess the unique needs, finances, and resources of your company. Even though it has many advantages for growing firms, it might not always be the best option. Make an informed selection by carefully analyzing your demands and weighing the advantages and downsides.
Pros
Scalability, a range of advanced features, Dedicated Support, Security and Reliability- It's important to note that Shopify Plus is primarily geared towards larger businesses with more complex needs and higher transaction volumes.
Cons
A higher price, Customization Limitations, Limited Ownership, Dependency on Third-Party Apps

No reason to not start with Shopify
I think it's the only and best way to get started with eCommerce business, with the number of options for the price.
Sometimes I make mistakes with software and it takes me a lot of time to switch to better solutions, but with Shopify I think it's a good investment of time into building a shop with them.
Pros
I love how you get hundreds of features for really low price and I see no competition to that.
Recently Shopify added even more value with AI. It speeds a lot of things, I can quickly fill different fields, email automations, product pages with it and with no additional cost.
Also they are expanding with e-mail automation and I don't have to use 3rd party software for e-mails anymore, which saves me even more money.
Cons
The only thing I disliked so far is that as a new user to the platform you can get overwhelmed with features and it would be really useful to hide some or have some kind of clickthrough on-site tutorials.
Sometimes they also make changes to the interface and it can be confusing what happened, but I guess it depends how often you use the software to learn what is what.

A quick start platform that is easy to outgrow
Shopify is not transparent about up times and site outages. The platform also has issues with basic data and calculations. I've noticed that our conversion rate is often off by a significant amount. When I talked with their support team about this, I was told that they would submit a ticket.
Pros
It's quick and easy to setup a Shopify+ store
Cons
It's quick to setup but a number of the advanced feature needed for modern Ecommerce are bolt on point solutions that vary greatly in quality and manageability.

Shopify Plus - overall the best choice
Overall it's very good. One thing they really need is a better inventory control experience. It's very limited and clunky.
Pros
It's easy to plug in apps to customize your site functionality and user experience.
Cons
Shopify no longer refunds fees when an order is cancelled or refunded. This is a huge cost to vendors. In general support is good but sometimes it takes a little back an forth to get a solution.

Great for E-commerce
We had a very good experience and our work was done very swiftly.
Pros
The Process to start a new website using Shopify is very easy. It is also very simple for new users with no developing skills to start with Shopify.
Integration with most apps is very convenient and can be easily handled.
Cons
Some of the features need some time to understand and need good knowledge about a particular feature.

Good and Powerful Platform of Simple Business Structure
Pros
If the implementation is standard then Shopify Plus is a great option with many out of the box features and easy integrations via 3rd party apps.
Cons
If the implementation is very customized, like it is for our business, then Shopify Plus can be complicated to work with vs other eCommerce Platforms than allow for greater customization.

Helped us during the pandemic and continues to help us today
Pros
We were able to integrate it with our ERP platform to enable online orders through a store front. There are so many different applications that are on the marketplace that can enhance your store in ways you didn't imagine. It was also quite easy to integrate with our 3PL as they had already developed an app through the Shopify platform.
During the pandemic, it opened up the avenue for us to sell online especially when non-essential stores were not allowed to open and Melbourne being lockdown for such a long period.
Cons

Good Before Politics Got Involved
Shopify Plus gets ONE STAR from me for customer service despite very good communication and support with everyone I've personally dealt with---sales, support, merchant development.
They get one star because they openly courted outdoor and shooting sport retailers for their platform, onboarding them with repeated assurances that Shopify wanted their business and would take care of them. Many of my friends in the industry preformed costly migrations to Shopify plus because of these overtures and were eager to get going on the platform.
Just a few months before Black Friday 2018, Shopify arbitrarily changed their terms of service to explicitly ban retailers offering anything to do with guns, or basically anything 'scary' like hatchets and knives. This change was not due to payment processor needs or issues of legality---all of these retailers were operating through their own gateways and were in full compliance with all applicable laws.
More importantly NO WARNING OR GRACE PERIOD WAS ISSUED. Overnight these retailers were left hung out to dry after paying tends of thousands---if not hundreds of thousands of dollars---to migrate over legacy systems and retrain staff.
This policy shift was arbitrary and counter to the repeated assurances provided retailers, and Shopify's longstanding stated positions. It was nothing less than a complete betrayal of these merchants who had believed in Shopify and trusted them with their bluishness. I'm am convinced other "purges" will follow.
Pros
Industry best user/checkout experience, industry best reliability, industry best customer support, fantastic user interface, great tools for automation, helpful merchant success managers who have experience, connections, and good advice...
The plus features are worth it and we use them daily: Flow, Scripts, Launchpad etc are so valuable to the business that it is hard to imagine going without them.
Cons
Shopify plus has been suspiciously slow to improve it's software when it will disrupt an existing "shopify app" in their app store. There are many obvious and simple optimizations that they are hesitant to implement because it will cost them money and anger software developers who rely on the income. This is a weakness in their product design strategy and holds the app store back from being as good as it could be. This attitude has slowed improvements to core functionality like Discounts, Customer Communication, Upsells etc.
Shopify (and plus) also needs to take a more active role in safeguarding user/customer data when it comes to what is truly needed by apps. One malicious developer can compromise tens of thousands if not millions of shopper's information and there's almost no recourse or prevention. In the same what mobile apps ask for too much information on purpose---there are a lot of suspicious "free" apps on the store which appear to be there just to harvest user data.
Increasing and inappropriate "politicization" of terms of service in order to bow to the personally held political beliefs of Shopify executives---regardless of legality, payment processor terms etc.

It is no doubt one of the best ecommerce platform for small and medium sized businesses
We have used Shopify Plus for our e-commerce store to boost the UX of the page and increase conversions, it is very easy to use and has resulted in increased loyalty by customers in just a few months of using Shopify.
Pros
The platform is great for the growth of businesses, it is straightforward to use with an excellent user interface. It is one of the best platforms for B2B/B2C e-commerce, providing a great online shopping experience to visitors. Great to find out the past purchases by customers and use them for retargeting purposes, excellent at providing discounts and vouchers.
Cons
Templates are editable but need JSON coding knowledge, which is a challenge for designers. Customer support is slower than other e-commerce platforms, there are limitations for optimising the experiences for visitors which can be fixed in the near future.

Dreamy compared to other platforms
Pros
So easy! Having been on a different platform for 3 years that operated on a break + fix model (something breaks, we spend money + time to fix. That in turn breaks something else, more time + money to fix, and the cycle continues), this platform operates like a dream. We actually get to optimize our site and spend time testing functions and driving the business.
Cons
some limitations as it relates to promos + discounts. Cannot use more than 1 discount code at a time. Cannot store a credit in a customer account. Cannot edit an order (now you can, but there are limitations).

Shopify Plus is easy to use, accurate and bug free. Couldn't be happier with the software!
Pros
Our team loves how easy it is to manage all our orders. From the customer experience of placing the order, to fulfilling and tracking data, Shopify Plus is a must-have!
Cons
It's hard to say a bad thing about this software. If I had to come up with anything, it would be that I'd like to see a better search function if products don't have item numbers. Ours don't, so when we enter the name of the product and the size, sometimes we're not sure if we're getting an accurate picture of how many pieces have been sold, or are left in stock, etc. Bu the problem is a small one compared to all the plusses.

Best way to start for small business
I definitely now using Shopify Plus the website and the user function is probably the best and the most popular software out right now.
Pros
The new Shopify Plus makes it super easy to use and for anyone that is trying to start their own business. With just a few clicks and a solid name you can start selling your own products in no time.
Cons

A Robust Ecommerce Platform for companies large and small
Shopify Plus has been a game changer for us. Conversion rates improved 50% after deployment. Site speed is phenomenal, the dashboards are great, uptime is great, and access to the app catalog cuts development time down to a matter of days. We have deployed more features and services in less than a year, something which would have taken multiple years at 3-4x the cost on our prior platform.
Pros
Ease of use and cost. We went from a commerce solution that required 3-4 developers, took weeks to months to deploy simple features. We now have one we developer that can deploy key features in a matter of hours or days at a quarter of the cost of the previous platform. The thousand of apps also provide additional features that can be rolled out quickly and effectively, creating a robust website in a manner of weeks from the beginning of the engagement.
Cons
Hard to complain about the platform. To expedite the development and roll-out we choose a theme that was a close fit to how we wanted the site to look and function. However there are not an unlimited number of themes and while we are happy with the results so far, we are limited in terms of some design elements that we want to try out and test out. Overall not a large problem.

The easiest way to build your online business
Overall we are pretty happy with the platform, compared to the other platforms out there it suits our needs and helps us to manage our business and strategize for growth.
Pros
What I like the most, is that the platform is super intuitive for different levels of e-commerce professionals and entrepreneurs looking to start a business. Shopify grows with you are your business grows too, offering more features and functionalities to suit your needs.
Cons
One thing I do believe Shopify has a big room for improvement is the way to visualize reports, specially showing a way to visualize how different collections perform and within one collection which product is selling the best and the worst. And that by default shopify stores are slower compared to online stores built from scratch, developing.

Only software you will ever need to manage your business across the globe
I am a developer using this over the past years and the journey by far was awesome, almost learned all the gotchas and tips and tricks and with every update, Shopify plus is improving its capabilities and making the business handle the problem easier, Shopify support for plus is also excellent and offers a solution to all of. your problems and that is to on 24x7.
Pros
It has some awesome features like detailed analytics which can help you increase sales, also you have the capabilities you can compare them across all of them. They have inbuilt flow software to create the automation you will ever need. you can manage the POS store sales and online sales on one platform and with many abilities on customizing your storefronts and checkout and integrates with every popular software in the market. For the developers, it has the scripts section which can create custom solutions without using an app.
Cons
I think the pricing for the plus is a lot expensive and hence only suitable for businesses that operate at a larger scale, I believe they should be reliable so that the medium-range or smaller tier can also accommodate this software.

Amazingly easy to setup your first webshop using shopify
Online grocery store with recipes, blogs , partnership with other vendors to sell cross products. Appointment bookings.
Pros
Shopify is amazingly easy to setup and to get started, the default templates are sufficient to create better than a basic design. The blogs and knowledge articles are quite helpful to learn about different entities. The availability of thousands of apps on shopify app store gives you the possibility to put your imagination to your website. I wanted to create a website with products, recipes, videos link to blogs, out of stock reminders etc and every function was easily possible using apps.
Another limitation is: I have a appointment booking system but none of the app allows/requests for a confirmation from the user. For e.g. I wanted to offer the possibilities for the user to book appointments but without making any payments in advance. For this purpose, user is just needed to enter their details like name and email address. But without really getting a confirmation this system can be used to create false appointments quite easily by providing any email ids. Ideally a confirmation is a must by the email address to get verified. But this is not available with any of the apps.
Cons
There is one special feature i fond missing for my scenario where i wanted to allow for local pickup from stores but the store should be able to scan a barcode or some order number from the user to verify the order details and then at the same time after successful delivery be able to complete the order themselves. This was not possible easily.

Great for businesses that do not employ an entire sales & web development team
Overall I really like working within Shopify and Shopify Plus. There are a decent amount of features for most businesses to establish a healthy online presence outside of today's e-commerce giants.
Pros
I really enjoy the fact that Shopify makes e-commerce accessible to anyone who wants to start a business. As a marketing professional, I feel that I have a leg up when it comes to online selling, but even for those who are new to the game can catch on quickly with Shopify and Shopify Plus. Creating product listings is very easy and intuitive, unlike Amazon where you have to jump through 10,000 hoops and hope that they approve your listing.
Cons
I do not like that a large majority of the website themes are overseen by outside companies. I understand that Shopify does this to offer more options to their customers in terms of website design, but I feel that there should be standards as to how customer service is to be delivered for their products. Shopify will sometimes help from their end when they can, but odds are if you're using an app or theme from an outside developer, there is little they can do to help if the developer is not responsive to an issue.

Great Software for small to medium sized businesses
Overall, it’s really great for our business. It has supported our growth and we see a long future with the software.
Pros
Shopify has been great for our b2b business. It has a ton of great features that allow for a bunch of customization and integrations.
Being the size that it is, there are so many CRM’s that integrate with it too, making it great to use with HubSpot.
Overall, it is great for growing businesses.
Cons
There are a lot of integrations for shopify that I feel should just have been apart of shopify itself. The ability to lock certain pages on your website should just be standard rather than relying on an app. It would allow for way less time researching apps and more time using the platform itself.

Super easy unless you hit a feature wall
If I had thenpower to change pur business model to make Shopify work for us again, I would. If you just want to sell wisgets with a sweet custom store, look no further.
Pros
I imagine 90% of people will find that their needs are met with the out-of-the-box software. The ease of ramping up is far beyond the competition. However, if your business needs go outside of expected ecommerce patterns, you hae to buy or build a kluge of custom plugins. Eventually we had to abandon Shopify to build our own platform, but we were well-served for a long time, and frankly I miss it.

Shopify Plus makes selling online easy, but it’s not cheap.
Shopify pulled us out of on-line store hell. We started with a custom-built site that never worked. Then we changed to Wordpress, which always broke with updates. Then we tried Shopify and were surprised how simple it was. We got up and running in no time, and as we’ve upgraded our presentation and marketing game over the years, the jump to Shopify Plus helped us stay ahead of the game.
Pros
It’s robust and customizable when still being eminently useable for people who don’t consider themselves computer geniuses. The support that comes with Plus is hard to beat - dedicated support lines and a personal company rep to shepherd you to success.
Cons
It’s not cheap. If your on-line store isn’t selling $100k/month or more, it might make more sense to stick with the basic Shopify options.

Easy To Use & Great For Small Stores!
Easy store setup
Pros
Shopify Plus is great to use for the serious business owner. It allows you to set up a shop and start selling very quickly which is very appealing to many.
Cons
Shopify seems to have been built for very small size stores. While this is great for some, it is horrible for others. They also do not have any built in way to set up shipping based on product dimensions so if you have multiple products with different dimensions this is probably not the best website platform for you. Seems that we have to use many "work arounds" just to make things like shipping work. It can be a huge pain if you have a big store.

It is a very flexible, yet easy-to-use platform that can be customized in many ways. I have looked into other various solutions but Shopify offers the most our of the door. It offers many apps that can increase the functionality of the platform.
Cons
The Shopify Plus option is much more expensive than the previous options but offers a lot for the price.

I love shopify plus!
Pros
I like how quickly you can build an online store with trusted security and speed, also being a plus+ customer allows you to get dedicated customer support and access to apps that can help you to automate your store or create very custom promos using Ruby programming language. It's a platform to scale your bussiness very fast!
Cons
from a web developer perspective, I don't like that there's no built-in GIT control over the themes, there are many external options to do that but it would be great to build some control versioning between themes inside the shopify platform.

Overhyped and only useful for small companies
Pros
It's easy to use and set up. There is a wide range of ready apps and themes that can be used to customise your shop further.
Cons
Very restrictive in terms of features, either you do things Shopify way, or don't. Developer support is inexistent, either being redirected to "forums" or referred to a paid partner that can give you an overpriced consulting solution.

Excellent basic eCommerce platform
Pros
Out of the box, it's everything you need to get started at an enterprise level. The app store provides you with basically everything else an eCommerce business would need to create a rounded off website experience. Love the omnichannel integrations built in - saves a lot of time.
Cons
Some of the capabilities that are apps probably should be holistic. I don't love how the native emails are laid out either. You can't create custom ones and therefore Shopify really pushes MailChimp and other integrated ESPs.
