Easy to use POS system with quick setup
Square has been easy to use and a product we use when it is convenient such as at events, including even an event as large as a gala. The setup is easy and we've had no trouble using their point of sale terminals.
Pros
Easy setup, easy to use machines for point of sale during events.
Cons
As always, as a nonprofit we wish they would be more generous on discounting transaction fees.

Square is a Big One!!
Pros
I love the fact that it’s just a well known, trusted company and also the feel, look, and overall ease of use.
Cons

Great POS option
Mostly positive over the last 6 years of using it, haven’t needed help or for anything to be fixed
Pros
Very easy to use. It’s nice to have different options for POS hardware, and very handy that you can now take payments directly to your phone. You can choose when the money deposits into your bank account, doesn’t have to be every day.
Cons
For the small square reader, I can’t turn it off without it fully disconnecting from the phone. As in, need to re-pair it in Bluetooth settings. Not sure if that’s for every reader or not. It would be nice to set smart tip amounts in dollar amounts instead of percentages as well.

Square is easy to deploy, and makes POS a breeze.
I am happy with Square POS. And I recommend it for any mobile consumer services company. Ease of use, set up and customer service is great!
Pros
Easy set up. The set up tools were not distracting, had a way to see where you are in the process, so you don't miss anything.
Ease of deployment. My employees are of varying ages and tech experience. This product was easy to teach to my users.
Clients know the name Square. They trust their information is secure. They are also impressed with the NPC ability to tap to pay with our phones.
Cons
The readers may not be necessary. I thought at the time of setup that I needed 5 readers, so I could have saved myself an initial investment. We are a fully mobile company, so our POS is on our phones. The NPC capability makes the (occasionally glitchy) readers obsolete.

How Square has changed the way I do business
I have nothing but good things to say about Square except for a few qurks and errors, I have had a great experience learning and using Square Pos
Pros
That I can access and take it anywhere I go. I love Square for the portability the most. It' has allowed me to make sales on the go to the elderly, the people that don't have transportation, and potential new clients
Cons

Easy to train and use for high volume
We have used square in a high volume music venue for shows and events. We have also used square and the square team for high volume music festivals. We can implement this for the box office as well as the bar sales, while pulling live reports to see how inventory is moving and track sales trends throughout the event.
Pros
I like how intuitive it is for any new user. Having multiple screens easily navigable is helpful in high volume bar sales.
Cons
Setting up new items and inputting them into a proper category can be lengthy to keep them organized and not having too many "type" of items. If you do not do this process 100% in the first step then your inventory will get out of control very fast.

Great product
I really like square and don't have any interest in switching card processors
Pros
Square is very user friendly and simple to use. The fees for square are high per use than many other merchant devices but there are no other monthly/maintenance hidden fees so overall they tend to be cheaper especially for small businesses unless you're running several thousand dollars/month in credit cards
Cons

My Experience with Square Point of Sale"
the overall sentiment tends to be very favorable, particularly for small to medium-sized businesses looking for an all-in-one solution.
Pros
user-friendly interface, which makes it easy to navigate and set up, even for those without extensive technical knowledge. The flexibility it offers for various payment methods, including credit cards, mobile payments, and online transactions, is also a significant benefit. Additionally, the ability to integrate with other Square services, such as inventory management and customer relationship management, streamlines operations.
Cons
While Square does offer offline capabilities, i have experienced issues when trying to process transactions without an internet connection, which can be problematic in certain scenarios.

Square POS can make your checkouts so much easier while giving you more insight into your...
Square has been a godsend. We started using it in 2011 and it has grown so much. The info at your fingertips on sales trends, item sales, customer average spend, etc can make you realize trends or items you didn't realize were popular. now it is more normal to see an iPad as a register, but people were blown away when we started and took away the giant clunky Casio cash registers and marveled at how modern and slick it was.
Pros
Super easy to use, can train anyone in minutes with the simple touch screen interface compared to trying to teach someone a cats register with all its cryptic buttons and key turns.
Cons
I wish it was a bit more flexible in the layout of the POS and what buttons could and can't be shown or dragging pages of favorites in different order. The old part is they are always changing and improving so hopefully some if not all will be addresses.

Company could be great but lost desire.
I’ve been using Square for 6 years now and like almost everything about it except the lack of pre-authorization on credit cards. The company has been promising this feature for the 6 years I’ve been with them but has yet to come through.
Other than that I have been mostly happy. Customer service is lacking but that seems common with all companies these days. In the end they usually solve the problem, just takes several phone transfers.
This could be a great company but they seemed to have lost the fire that they had when they started.
Pros
System is affordable and fairly straight forward to use. There are lots of features that work well together.
Cons
No pre-authorization of credit cards so you have to hold cards behind bar. This is a real problem on busy nights.

Stopped Charging
Pros
It is quite handy and fast, but then it
Cons
I have a small business. I bought the square reader machine last year for around $50, in Feb 2023. After almost one year and a half, the machine does not charge and I have to keep it connected to electricity all the time. This will cost me more than its price, and if I buy it again, I will have to pay $65. It looks like I have to purchase it again, but not happy that the machine stops working properly in less than two years.

We have had no regrets with choosing square. We have used it for over 2 years with no problems, if you spend the time you can use so many more features. Two location price difference, variations, gift cards, website for online order. If we invested more time we could utilize all their product and it would be great. Getting there!
Pros

Worst customer service and company that I've ever dealt with.
Horrible and worst experience with a company ever
Pros
It was always just ok until I was unable to process orders due to my account not working.
Cons
Worst customer service and company that I've ever dealt with. As a business owner, you deal with a lot of different companies and this is by far the worst company for POS systems. When you have any issues with their software and online program they are impossible to talk to and then put you on hold just to tell you that it is your fault and you need to contact google, apple, or other businesses to fix their problem. Do not use for any reason. I have 3 of my companies with them currently but I will be canceling my service with all of them.

Allows us a self service POS
Extremely happy with Square as a POS. We use it daily and have had no issues. It was easy to set up and is very uset friendly. The mount is a sleek design and we get a lot of compliments on how easy the system is to use. We wouldn't be able to accept credit card without Square
Pros
We use Square along with another app as our self-serve POS system. We use the wall mounted kiosk which makes it easy for our customers. Square is extremely easy to use and works wonderfully for us. I love how we can see our sales numbers easily from the app. Our customers have been thrilled with the option to use their credit/debit cards and we have noticed an increase in sales.
Cons
I wish there were more options for reports. I would like to be able to quickly grab data but there aren't very many options available for this. It would also be helpful to have reports able to be curated and saved in the Square app. We log in from multiple devices, so the ability to pull a record for a certain time frame and save it for easy access, would be helpful.

Square has potential to be great
Square POS is actually a little complex to build out of you dont have a background in software or IT. For our coffee shops we use alot of modifiers and variations, so it is difficult to sink up the modifiers with the optons if you are building out for the first time. If you are a business without the modifiers it will be much easier.
Pros
Square POS does exactly what any POS system should do. You upload your items for sale, and you can take payments on your phone, your square reader, or ipad.
Cons
Square Outages are the absolute worst and they are more frequent than anything. they have put my business at a stand still at least once per quarter. We have had to switch to "off line" mode which also wasnt working. We are a coffee shop and most of our sales are from 7am-9am. We have lost so much money from the outages and good luck getting anyone from customer service. It's non-existent. PLUS the fees you pay are astronomical.
Reasons for Switching to Square Point of Sale
We chose square because we use apple products and didnt want to have to buy new hardware. In hindsight we probably have lost more money in outages than new hardward would have cost us. We also now have all of our data from the last few years in Square so its hard to switch.- Industry: Food & Beverages

Square Point of Sale helps you manage your daily operations
Square Point of Sale made managing my daily sales items sold reporting, sales-tax, tips, and credit card sales a very easy task. Monthly and annual reports were also easy to review which mad tax reporting easier.
Pros
I like the option of the menu where you can have specific items on the screen rather than having to scroll through a list. Also using the options worked great for my coffee shop. I could press the Latte button, and had all the options including add-on prices automatically add without having to add up the cost and then enter the price.
Cons
I would like the option of more, but smaller buttons on the main menu. I had discount buttons also programmed (teacher’s and police) because I was near a school and gave teachers a 10% discount, and also gave uniformed police and firefighters a 30% discount, which took two product items off the main menu.

Square Point of Sale is Easy to Use
I felt my overall experience with Square Point of Sale was smooth and easy to learn. I used the Square Point of Sale for one location of business, I have about 25 products I'm tracking inventory on. I make adjustments to discounts. These functions were easy to figure out how to use without using any help features or stressing out.
Square Point of Sale system was also very easy to use on my iPhone and it has many options for accepting payments as far as different hardward is concerned. You don't need hardware either, you can use an iphone and use the Square Point of Sale app to process payments for your customers. I prefer the actual Square because sometimes people don't have the tap to pay option if they don't have their Apple wallet set up properly or don't how to process payments that way.
Pros
Square Point of Sale is very easy to set up and use. The interface is very clean. I have used the Wix point of sale system which has a busier UI and is slightly more difficult to use. If someone is using a point of sale system for the first time, between Wix and Square, I think Square would be easier for them.
Cons
I didn't find anything I didn't like about it. I think that there's always a learning curve with any new point of sale system.

Dont expect great support
I've been up and down every channel I can to resolve an issue centered around a dispute a customer filed.
For starters, this customer should have been refunded but my team never hit the refund button. Once I saw the dispute, I immediately ACCEPTED it.
This was on October 10th. Fast forward to Nov 20th and the customer has not seen any money refunded.
After 5 different calls with support and having the issue escalated, two different calls with our representative - I was told the same response "Square has been informed that the disputed payment should be credited back to the cardholder’s account. Please refer your customer to their bank for more information on when to expect the credit."
Each time the customer called his bank and was told "there is no communication from Square nor are there any pending deposits or transactions"
Each time, I called back and asked for a transaction number, or some information that proves the transfer of funds from Square to customer's bank has been made - each time same response.
After asking to speak higher up each time - "there is nothing I can do beyond this" is the response. Zero opportunity to escalate.
I was patient and clear with each call, asking kindly but stating the importance of my issue and how it impacts my business, except on the 6th call - I got heated and begged for help.
Now this is no small transaction, it's $4,238 of our customers money. This customer has been patient but has threatened my business, not Square, but my business and has demanded I refund his money - the same money Square already deducted from our account.
I've asked for escalation multiple times, asking for simple transaction data to help my case and save my business from this headache - 1-2 day wait, same response.
I've called out the [sensitive content hidden] and the Company on LinkedIn asking, pleading for help. Nothing.
All i've heard is "I'm sorry this is a challenging situation for you, but I can't help you any further" - then get hung up on.
I've been a Square customer for 7 years, processing over $1M in transactions on this platform and still - no luck in getting information.
Now I'll have to shell out another $4,238 on top of the $4,238 Square already deducted from my account to settle this customer and save my business headache.
If you don't care about getting thoughtful support, or data you need when you're in a bind - Square may be good for you, but if you need want support - I do not recommend.
I've tried up and down every channel I can get and was shut down each time. No luck.
I'm switching to something else for sure. Sad to see this happen.

Simple, User-Friendly
Overall, Square was an efficient and simple POS. Even when we switched our main POS to a different software, we continued to use Square for our food and beverage area. Unfortunately, Square just didn't have enough features and integrations to sustain our main POS.
Pros
Square was easy for staff to learn and simple for customers to use.
Cons
The POS was very basic and didn't allow us to have as many options and integrations as we needed.

My only POS
Overall I enjoy using Squares point of sale when taking payments from customers. It is user friendly and customers love it.
Pros
I love being able to take electronic payments when I am at events selling my work.
Cons
Sometimes the POS is delayed when there is not a good connection. I would love for it to still work as great in an offline mode outside of typing customers' information.

Great for a Small Business
I've been using square for over 9 years now and it's been great. Especially when I am traveling with my business, it's easy to accept payments through their system. It's important to have something reliable if my clients don't want to pay in cash or forget, I always have it in my back pocket as long as I have my phone.
Pros
I like that they added the option to use your own phone as the card reader and that you can make different menu options with different price points.
Cons
The older card readers are frustrating to have to charge but that issue doesn't come up very often.

Square POS has been Remarkable!
Pros
The initial cost for Square POS hardware is relatively low compared to traditional POS systems, making it accessible for many small businesses.
Cons
Square charges a transaction fee for each payment processed through its system, which is usually higher than other systems I've dealt with in the past.

Satisfied Customer
My experience is that Square point of sale is so simple anyone can maneuver this tool for their business.
Pros
The ease of the product is what makes using this regularly a perfect tool.
Cons
My expectations have been met. I have not run into any issues unless there was a wifi or internet connectivity problem in the area it is being used.
