> Seagence is a tool for monitoring Java applications in production. It enables software engineers to automate defect checks and identify root causes. The app works by attaching a downloaded agent to the user’s application upon registration. Multiple users can access the application via the web.

The tool collects request execution data and feeds it into an analytics engine in real-time. It sends alerts to developers instantly and points to the broken code. Users see all application defects on a mobile device, along with context for every executed request and debugging data.

Seagence groups invocations into clusters based on similarities between request executions and highlights those with defects. Users can search and filter data using lists of grouped invocations. It also allows them to expand failed invocations to view root cause exceptions and other exceptions thrown while the request was executed. The app also provides the query parameters and steps to reproduce the defect.

> **Pros**: Unlike other tools, this tool lists all transactions and tells us what have succeeded and what have failed. Detailed reporting of bugs with root cause exception. Groups defects into clusters so we know how many times each defect occurred.

> **Cons**: UI can be improved. Not many integrations.

> Within a day of deployment, Seagence quickly found a nasty intermittent and multithreading defect with root cause that existed in our application. We suffered from this defect for more than a year. We quickly rolled out a fix and user complaints have immediately stopped. And another important thing is that it continuously finds production defects. Very happy with the product.
