Charm for DME Billing
Overall experience
Pros
The best use of Charm for us was having all our patient data in one location that was easily accessible, and well laid out. Ease of use was important in the decision to use Charm. Charm was easy to implement and setup. It is highly customizable and their support is great. It has almost all the features we need to run the practice.
Cons
There is no option for refilling orders for patients. We have to go in and create new encounters each time

Great system, cost efficient, high value
I have used for the past 3 years and absolutely love it. They are always upgrading to include and offer more features on both provider and patient side. Great system integration as well.
Pros
user friendly and multiple features with transparent pricing. They are always upgrading to include and offer more features on both provider and patient side. Great system integration as well. Easy setup and plenty of how to videos available on YouTube.
Cons
Support could be a tad friendlier and engaging

Great when it works
If they had good customer support, some way to talk to humans in-real-time, and to escalate to support team members that actually understand the platform, it would be nearly perfect.
Pros
For reference, I am a solo practitioner - so I do everything myself. I know how to set up a hyper efficient clinic and I know clinical workflows from both the physician and admin ends. I am also a full-stack web developer, so I know code and I know tech.
I have done deep dive evaluations of most of the EHR's designed for small practices and functional medicine. Overall, Charm is one of the most flexible and customizable EHR's out there, and for a tiny fraction of the price, and it is the one I have used for 10 years. I was an early adopter (I think I signed on in their first few years). I have watched the platform grow and improve (though some parts have gotten worse).
If you are willing to put in the time to customize your experiene you can do a lot with templates and questionnaires.
Cons
Customer / Tech support is non-existant for real platform issues. They do NOT listen to or respond to feedback when they have made problematic changes to the platform. Customer support mostly regurgitates basic user instructions, and they do not really understand the platform. I usually know and understand the platform better than the support teams (or the onboarding teams). I can't even remember the last time I was able to get a human on the phone or chat... usually I am stuck with waiting a week or more for someone that barely speaks English to gaslight me over email, which means I end up just having to find my own workaround for whatever problem we are having.
I also really wish they would allow us to choose what credit card processor we want to work with. BlueFin is a nightmare and we can't take the risk of working with them (see BlueFin review of overcharging, refusing to close accounts, etc) - because that is the only option, we are having to use a completely different scheduling system so we can charge our cash pay patients. Again, they have been getting bad feedback on BlueFin for more than 5 years, and they just will not listen.
Reasons for Switching to CharmHealth
Price: most were over $200/mo per practitioner, Charm is $25 Flexibility: Charting process, and Questionnaires are more flexible in Charm than any other system I tested... most EHR's did not allow me to customize my intake forms - which is insane.- Industry: Health, Wellness & Fitness

Very customizable
Really good experience. Other than occasional slow response time of technical team, I am pleased.
Pros
Intuitiveness. Easy to use.
Customizable templates, macros, user roles.
Integrated instant messaging for staff, text messaging for patients, fax, referral management.
Ability to customize automation of the RCM.
Cons
Onboarding is brief and not very detailed. However, the intuitiveness sort of compensates. Also, time to response when you reach out for technical support can vary. Sometimes immediately, at other times can take up to a week.

Good program, bad support
Frustrating. The tutorials are useless and don't actually help you get up and going. I'm extremely grateful I have another source of income, or I'd be destitute after how many months I've had to go without reimbursement.
Pros
As far as EMRs go, as a solo provider this is a good option. It's affordable and fairly easy to get up and going. It's pretty bare bones, but I've liked it FAR more than Simple Practice, which I found to be so clunky I've switched to Charm.
Cons
The customer service!! You can only contact support via email, and it takes at least a week for any reply. They are NEVER proactive and if you don't know to ask every single minute detail in advance, it won't get done. It's been infuriating and after four months seeing patients, I still haven't been able to bill insurance, all because of Charm!! It has been AGONIZING every step of the way.

Terrible customer service
I regret signing up. I signed up in February of 2024 and do not have all features activated that they have charged me for. They also charge a fee for PDMP and its free to access in my state. They also charge to send text reminders.
Pros
It is easy for my collaborating MD to sign my charts. Ability to have multiple locations.
Cons
The customer service sucks! It takes them forever to address tickets. The erx and EPCS set up has taken more than 4 months for me. I trialed another EHR and I was set to go in a week. They seem pretty nonchalant about ehr issues.

I have had a very positive experience with Charm and they have been very receptive to our ideas for additions that have helped customize our charting.

An Excellent EMR System
Pros
Charm is a user friendly, patient friendly, online EMR system. It has many different features that help to automate many tedious tasks and help take the burden off of smaller clinics/teams. We've had an excellent experience with claims and reimbursement working with their billers, RCM.
Cons
Charm occasionally has small bugs, and the specific team assigned to resolve can sometimes take a while to respond to the inquiry. If their investigation doesn't find any issue, there isn't much follow up-- I wish that they would schedule a virtual screenshare to see the issue happen in real time and help resolve user issue.

Overall Positive, could use some improvements
Pros
For the most part, Charm is user-friendly and easy to navigate. They have lots of settings to help customize your setup, and it has worked well for both the providers and administrators in our practice.
Cons
Messages are not searchable, so old messages among members get easily lost. The invoices tab in the billing page should allow more space for billing-related notes for each patient.

Affordable option
Pros
This is the most affordable option out there and really provides you the option to grow. If you are a new practice and don't need a lot of bells and whistles, then this is a great option. Fancier features cost more.
Cons
My main gripe was with the online booking. There was no way to customize menus or offer links for one service so the patient is presented with every service available for online booking in alphabetical order. No way to change the order unless you get creative with naming of services. There is also only one option for integrated payment processing which was not good for me, especially since that company took 6 months to respond to me about opening an account.

Tricky to setup but once it's going it's great.
I was using a different eRx company who suddenly hiked their fees by a huge amount. Charm is free for the first 50 erx's per month, and I don't expect to do more than that.
Pros
Very easy to use, autofills most fields, easy to search on pharmacies and enter patient demographics.
Cons
Was very tricky to set up, had to verify my credentials using my credit agency report, and ran into a few glitches with the Charm software which had to be fixed by tech support who is very slow to get back to me as in about a week between emails. So it took about a month to get it up and running.

Loaded with Features, Expands with Your Practice.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this to small practices looking for a work horse to help them streamline their practice. It's a bit tricky to use initially, but it's well worth figuring it out. They are also constantly updating and adding features to make my life easier.
Pros
I have been using Charm for almost 2 years now, and once you get it set up right, it generally saves me a lot of time. I'm a solo practitioner, so having all of the integrated features is a game changer for me. It meets HIPAA guidelines, generates personalized templates for supplement protocols, has templates for visit types/different charts, and it is free until you have over 50 clients regularly coming in monthly.
Cons
It has a steep learning curve initially, but it's easy to pick up by watching a few videos. Customer service is also great about getting back to you in a couple of days about any of your concerns or feedback.

Cost-effective full-featured EHR
Pros
For the price of the product, you receive a lot of features that are missing or outdated in other EHRs. The RCM team also can do a great job handling your claims.
Cons
Some of the features require you to exit your current window to add or find information and then return to the current window. This breaks the smooth workflow and adds some time to completing some of the encounters.

Customizable, Affordable, but Customer Service may take DAYS!
Outside of issues with electronic prescribing and customer support- which are SIGNIFICANT!, the EHR is otherwise almost perfect for my clinic. I am hoping they can figure our a more robust customer service, or better train their frontline employees to really make this a 5 star EHR.
Pros
Easy to use and get started. Customizable templates and a library of emails, consents, visit templates, etc are available to use from day one.
Cons
Customer service by phone is not available 24/7 as advertised. The support by phone is not knowledgeable to help on most issues, and frequently I have to figure the issue out myself. There can be a 2-3 day delay waiting to have your issue resolved from India. For some issues that's okay, but several times not my electronic prescribing has been offline for more than 2 days with patients suffering tremendously as a result, especially when it comes to pain management- even with my cancer patients. No rush or expedited service. Definitely almost kills the deal for me. This aspect in particular creates major ripples and has probably cost me 3 patients (roughly $6000 in income plus whatever bad reviews I get based on not being able to help them in a timely fashion). I have used 2 other prime time EHRs and never experienced such unacceptable support delays.

For a small medical practice it's a good investement
Having the billing and collections reports intergated to the EHR makes a huge positive differnece, and the price is very reasonable to services rendered.
Pros
I like being able to see waht colleagues are doing with my patinets, and also like the intergrated billing and messaging support. having everythign on one place makes patinet care easier. I also enjoy being able to see patient messages and appointment requests via my cell phone app
Cons
I can't pull up a patient chart on my cell phone app, which makes answering specific questions ont he go difficult. Charm also lacks larger intergration of hospital visits-- we ahve to have other doctors fax results/ notes and enter them manually which can be a bit of a pain and hinderance to patinet care

1990s style is not ChARMing at all
Pros
It appears to have all the features required.
Cons
System is 4 panes arranged horizontally with no way to resize. Messages are displayed in the right-most pane, but on a tablet or phone that pane is squished so you only see a couple characters per line. The website is Buggy, as customers were unable to read messages this week. ChARM isn't responsive to customers, must have authorized contact forward bug reports to ChARM to get them fixed. Also the system does not allow providers to adjust message limits - which is definitely needed during covid lockdowns. There are better solutions out there.

CharmHealth
Overall, I have been pleased with CharmHealth. I have had to create my own reports, 3-4 in order to generate the data that I need. However, the team is always helpful and the RCM team is the best team we have ever used in Revenue Management.
Pros
CharmHealth is an easy to use and adaptable EMR for any practice. It is user friendly and produces reports that allow Practice Admin view the operational success of the practice.
Cons
Data reporting capabilities, Interaction with patients with Data, Text messaging limitations, ability to custom create more unique practice templates outside of dropdown options etc.

Charm EHR for Psychiatric Private Practice
Overall, I am very pleased and feel excited to start to use even more features that I am using right now. I would recommend Charm to anyone starting in private practice in psychiatry. I am very grateful I found Charm!
Pros
I have found Charm quite straightforward for writing notes and managing patients's charts. I moved to Charm from 11 years of paper charts and was certainly nervous to move to an electronic record. I heard from a colleague that Charm had fabulous customer support and that is what made me give it a try. I absolutely can say that I have gotten excellent customer support from Charm. I feel that I still have a lot of functionality of Charm to understand better but what I am using right now meets my needs and I am sure that as I explore more of what Charm has to offer as an EMR my practice will get even more efficient. I went from being scared to start an EMR to excited to have one in 3 weeks with the excellent support. That is pretty awesome!
Cons
I really can't say yet what I don't like about Charm because I have not fully started working with all that charm offers. It's a little overwhelming to get started but I feel Charm support staff helped me through that.

Switched from Practice Fusion and Love this Full Feature EHR
We switched to Charm when Practice Fusion moved from their free model. Honestly, I like this software better. It is more customizable and has more included features. It runs fast, is always up, sends text appointment reminders for free and voice reminders for a low price.
I probably trialed 20 EHR systems before deciding on this one, and for the features and price point, I couldn't beat it, particularly for a small practice with multiple part-time providers, where we really can't afford to pay high prices per month for provider. Charm charges you for the number of encounters your practice has, so it remains in line with your profits.
We are a mental health practice, and while it's not geared specifically towards this, if you tweak the form templates just a little, it works just fine.
Pros
Very customizable, reasonably priced add on services, receipt printing and accounting, good email options, snotty to send patients custom forms with their initial appointment confirmation, easy repeating of medications/diagnoses/prior note, great price point.
Cons
Nothing really... Except that it's not going to help you very much with MIPS.
