Bang for buck

Absolutely essential to the success of this business, we use what works and this definately does a stellar job for inventory control of rental fleet and booking reservations.

Pros

This software is an absolute game changer for bike rentals giving you control over your numbers booked as you go, it keeps data on the cloud so it is current which means I can access from anywhere and get my answers. I work from home sometimes and I can use this on any computer I like.

Cons

When they do updates, I tend to find the glitches.

We could not survive without this software

Find another rental software company

We paid for the service. There were issues in communication. Both parties were trying to contact each other but things weren't coming together. Likely due to the big time difference. By the time we were actually getting somewhere communication wise we were already in our busy season and didn't have time to implement the system. We were assured (in writing) that we could start the system where we left off when we got around to doing it. By the time this happened it was the next off season. By then they said we had waited too long and they were keeping our money. They used some lame excuse to explain the promises made in text. In the end it wasn't enough money from half way across the world to do anything about, but they certainly will not get any help with other future customers if it were up to me. Its a shame given we a HUGE fans of Lightspeed and got onto that platform way back in the day when they first started. I haven't ran into a bad software company that plugs into Lightspeed other than BikeRentalManager.com

Pros

It seemed like it was going to be an affordable, quality product. It seemed to have all the functionality we were looking for.
Additionally, there are not many other plug-in bike rental software companies for Lightspeed, but Im sure that is changing quickly.

Cons

The people behind it. The [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] was unfriendly and unyielding in his pursuit to make a buck and not follow through with promises one of his employees made to us.

Plug & Play from the Get Go & Amazing Customer Support

On boarding was thorough and consistent. Each time we had a need to talk to someone from BRM, they answered us in a timely manner (normally withing 1 business day).

Pros

We launched our new bike rental service during high season and we experienced ZERO issues, delays or frustrations right out of the gate.

Cons

We would benefit from a more robust Delivery Scheduling module. We deliver all our rentals and pick them up at the end of the rental period. It would be nice to have more control over number of "events" that could take place in a given hour.

YEP! YEP! And definitely YEP!

Again the simplicity of use and that everyone can access it to take over any hire as its status is clear.
Therefore there is no confusion where and how and when and who did and or didn't do.
The best thing that customer are able to hire AND pay directly online. Magic! A real time-saver.

Pros

BRM is a real time-saver. Worth every dollar. It is easy to understand and navigate. Each state of the hire transaction is clear for both parties - the retailer and the customer. Easy to see whether or not the transaction was paid and how it was paid. We love the easy collaboration with Lightspeed.

Cons

As any other apps it just takes a while to get used to it and to set it up properly. The training of the team and to make your team use it is always the hardest part which has nothing to do with the software at least not with an easy to use software such as BRM. It has to do with human nature not to want to deal with new stuff :)

Bike Rental Manager. Allows our small family business to operate like a large corporate...

We have had a couple of small issues along the way but both times IT support have been phenomenal, resolving issues very quickly and explaining the reason the faults occurred. This is a very strong reason alone we continue to use BRM.

Pros

We use BRM simply because it offers the easiest way to run our bike hire business the most efficient way possible. From a copy and paste integration into our website to allow for online bookings and payments to inventory management and maintenance abilities. Without these functions integrated into one platform we would have to create and manage multiple spreadsheets and diaries. We are a small family run business and BRM allows us to be agile by keeping operations simple but offers our customers a level of professionalism expected from a large corporate outfit.

Cons

I would like more functionality within the reports section. Would like to be able to pull data on cost per asset. cost vs revenue per asset line. Also you cannot report a service entry without the service level resetting to 100. For instance if I had to change an innertube and add cost of part an time, I wouldn't necessarily need to do a service at the same time but if I add it to the system it will reset the service points.

Exceptional Rental Management Software

We have been BRM customers for over 3 years now and have watched an already great product grow tremendously. Recent improvements in their 2.0 framework have made the setup and implementation as well as the every day use both for the customer and service shop associates much simpler and more intuitive. BRM's customer support is exceptional and is always very diligent and quick about assisting with any setup needs we may have or issues we may encounter. Additionally, their team is very receptive to feedback and feature requests/ideas for improvement. We truly feel like a partner rather than just a customer and that has greatly influenced our decision to keep renewing the product year after year.

Pros

BRM is a fully-functional rental software management tool that fit the needs of our growing multi-location business. Shop setup is very simple and straightforward and adding products, descriptions and images is quick and intuitive as well. The tool has many powerful features such as: at-a-glance reservation dashboard; customizable online booking tool; add-on item management; kiosk mode for in-shop customer self-service; multi-location asset catalog; asset packaging; asset delivery management capabilities; inventory tracking through the rental lifecycle (ie. on order, available, broken, sold, etc.) .

Cons

BRM is incredibly rich with features and for most of the key functional areas the UI is very intuitive, especially in their new 2.0 framework, however, there are still some areas that could use some more attention as it relates to ease of use. Many features still have yet to reach their full potential such as product packaging, seasonal rentals, and delivery functionality, though BRM is constantly adding new functionality so I hope to see these things develop further soon.

Bike Rental Manager Best System for Rental Companies

BRM is an invaluable asset that has helped us greatly increase our efficiency and bottom line. We have used three other competitor systems over the last three years and BRM is hands down the best, user friendly rental management system we have. I cannot say enough about the FAST, efficient customer service they provide. This system is priced right, effective and very profitable. We just had a 61 percent sales gain and BRM is a big part of our success. They arm you will of the tools necessary to be successful.

Pros

Users love the easy, friendly look. This system offers me everything I need.

Cons

There really are not any cons with this system. They have done a great job.

3 Years of shopping for the right platform, we finally found what actually works.

Professional, pleasant and the guys are very patient.

Pros

We love how user friendly BRM is. We can access the system from anywhere at any time. Customer service is the best part about BRM. Knowledgeable, kind and actual users assisting us- it makes all the difference to have [SENSITIVE CONTENT] helping us with things that he's actually encountered and resolved.

Cons

daily totals don't seem accurate. When looking at the "TODAY" list the totals change and are not what we want to see.

This software made our business successful.

Great from beginning to end. We were new to this sector and BRM guided us through the whole process. There’s always someone there when you need them!

Pros

The web client is tremendous… there’s nothing better on the market. You could be working out of a run-down shack, but this software is so professional that it doesn’t matter and you still present as well as an organisation working in multi-million facilities!
Honestly, without this software I think we would have earned at least 50% less income over the summer season.

Cons

Can get confused when cancelling or altering prices within booking themselves. If managed all, this is a very very small issue.

Does what we need and the support is great

Brm allows us to offer customers smooth and easy experience doing their online booking, as well as a quick in store booking interface. The most critical ux facing the customer has minimal obstacles.

Pros

Smooth work flow after using the software for a while. Web interface and user experience on the front end is great, and it does a lot of work you wouldn't think of for you. Support is amazing too.

Cons

Searching for settings or features can be a bit tricky, the ux is constantly improving but still has some ways to go.

The best suited solution for our scooter rental business

The overall experience is excellent. It makes my life easier. Our business is very small for now, but we hope it will grow and feel BRM will be a key tool enabling that growth. When we started last year we sought the best possible solution to start our rental business on solid IT foundations. BRM has proved to be the right choice.

Pros

It integrates bookings, inventory management and reporting in a way that is suited to our business. It is easy to use and reliable. Customer support is reliable too. They are also striving to improve and add features continuously.

Cons

Great software

Very good and helpful

Pros

They put a lot of thought in it and it’s highly customizable to your needs. New features are implemented every year

Cons

It’s hard to get into. Might be solved due to version 2.0.
Some system issues occasionally cause problems. 99.9% of the time it works perfectly fine but these 0.01 are still an issue sometimes. (Caused double booking recently - but we are optimistic that these problems will be solved in the future)

It is very customizable, and the learning curve was fairly simple.

Cons

No real con's... In my business I do not use the software to its full potential. In that, I think sometimes I miss some of the ways to make shortcuts or 100% understand the workings of the software.

Bike Rental Manager: Covid 19 response with added benefits

I chose BRM as we needed an on-line booking system to replace the more informal, manual booking system that we operated pre pandemic. Our visitor centre was shut and the staff who would normally take bookings were furloughed.
Although driven to adopt such system by necessity, we keep finding benefits every day. From having contact details to reunite lost property with it's owner to having bikes available and ready for the customer when they arrive.
It is still early days, but I am looking forward to reviewing trends when there is more data to analyse.

Pros

There are many features that I could choose. I would say the most useful feature is the saving in time on bookings. I do not have the staff levels that I once had and this has been a life saver.

Cons

It took me a little while to get my head around the hierarchy of the items.

Excellent bike rental software

By the start of our second season in business I knew that our manual systems just weren't cutting it and I was worried that I was going to lose track of our forward bookings or make mistakes with the bookings I had. I'd looked into a number of different options but just hadn't found what I wanted - I needed a system that would allocated specific bikes to a booking, not just a random bike from a group. Then I found BRM and all was well in my world. At this stage we are only using a fraction of what the system offers, but this will change as our in house systems and processes develop.

Pros

Our forward bookings are no longer a nightmare. With BRM we can allocate a specific bike(s) to each booking and changing dates, bikes or any other details is simple and fast. The company is very responsive to questions and issues raised have been addressed very quickly. Looking forward to changing to BRM online booking next month.

Cons

Being a Mac user Safari is the default so just have to remember to use Chrome instead as the system works best with this.

Good company

Pros

Multiple Locations is an incredible feature that has worked well for us as well as the online booking ability.

Cons

I would really benefit with a customer support phone number for issues that arise that need to be fixed right away. the help ticket works but is slow and my issues wont get resolved until at least the next day.

Overall a good program and concept, however not everyone in our shop was able to understand the system

Only allows available bikes to be reserved.

Cons

Difficult to tell what bikes I have available for same day use. Had trouble getting the online to reserve same day.

We use BRM for our extensive hire fleets across 5 locations

We have been using and developing BRM for our stores for the last 3 years or so and can say we are getting on well with the system utilizing most of its features now.
Really does a good job of booking out our bikes in advance and on the day of what can be really busy at times, keeping and over view of the service schedules and usage of each asset.
Reasonably quick for staff to use on the day with the ability to capture all the data required for security and marketing. Keeps a good track of financials too.
Reporting is something we still need to get to grips with and use to full potential.
On line booking is something we are moving into right now and are getting great support to enable us to ensure that the system is doing exactly what we require from it to enable us to have a great offer whilst retaining the day to day functionality of the system.

Best investment any rental business can make!

I wish we would have known about BRM years ago, it has completely changed our rental business! At first we were just thrilled at how nice it was to be able to see live inventory and have an accurate rental inventory at all times.

Recently we added the online booking feature to our website and started using the EVO self registration in store, the results have been amazing! The amount of reservations have dramatically increased allowing us to be better prepared for each day, and the self registration system makes walk-in rentals faster and more efficient than any process we have ever tried.

The bottom line is, BRM saves us hours of work everyday while at the same time resulting in by far, the best rental experience we have ever been able to offer.

still I think I just use 30% of the possibilities the software offers. It offers all I need

Cons:
- not multilingual
- I can only use the software for renting bikes, if I sell something (e.g. bike clothing) I need a different software (causes difficulties in the accounting. How to invoice: 1 rent of bike + 1 bike jersey? Have to do it seperately

Pros:
- good service
- fast overview
- good to handle

Just a note to say that the online part is multi-lingual - English, French, German & Spanish so far.
Correct, we don't currently support retail within BRM, but retail-lite is coming winter 2016!

Answer to all of our problems!

This has been great for sorting out our hire and demo fleet. It took a little bit to get used to and we had a few teething problems but now I don't know how was survived without it!
Would recommend it to any bike shop or hire bike company.
