The best Surveillance Tool to monitor mentions & topics of interest
Very good. They deliver you complete details & mention the topics of alerts that have been set by you.
Pros
It's free, easy, and hassle-free to set up a large number of google alerts of our choice both to track brand mention, topics of interest, and competitors' activities and what're they to. We use them on a daily basis for improving our touchpoints and customer engagement to show our brand in a good light.
Cons
We need a lot of manual efforts to churn out the most useful information from the pool of links where topics of our alerts have been mentioned. It provides complete information that may consume a lot of time to hand-pick only useful information.

be aware in real time with alerts!
Despite the fact that Google Alerts is a free service, it has enabled me to greatly increase my overall productivity. I have repeatedly lost out on funding opportunities and grant competitions that could have aided me in the past. Since I began using Google Alerts, I haven't missed a single grant opportunity or competition, and it has been a big benefit. It has been a tremendous benefit to me.
Pros
It's the simplest, quickest, and most cost-effective method to get your business online, and it's completely free. And one of the features I enjoy the most about the service is its adaptability in terms of how frequently I receive notifications and communications. When working with less urgent topics, I can avoid the inconvenience or distraction caused by real-time alerts while yet staying informed of developments as they occur. Rather than being inconvenienced or distracted by real-time alerts, I am free to concentrate on more critical activities.
Cons
Google Alerts should include content from key social media platforms, as this is where the vast majority of interactions occur, owing to social media's expanding relevance.

Best tool to track global 'keyword' mentions
Pros
I use Google alerts to set, track (and forget) specific keywords and brand names that I have used and in partnership with to create content for. This clearly sends me email notifications whenever the brand name is mentioned anywhere on the internet. Pretty decent. This takes me directly to the content so I need not speculate where a particular brand's blog post is written or mentioned. This keeps me certainly updated and on track so my face is saved whenever a brand asks me for blog posts. It basically helps me to study / research a keyword / brand name before committing.
Cons
Not much of insights or analytics, and bells and whistles. Just the alerts on specified keywords. Overall, good tool and nothing much to complain.

Google Alerts keeps updated directly in my inbox
It helped me a lot to be updated about the news of important words in timely and effective manner. Earlier, we were manually searching those words for relevant news and updates.
Pros
It helps to be updated straight in my inbox for any specific word if and when it appears anywhere on internet and learnt by google crawler. It allows to filter the alerts by source, language, region and even quality. I can choose the frequency of alerts. Above all, it is free.
Cons
The only thing, I noticed to be improved in google alerts is that it checks on any one word basis in case of multiple words like "DRAP Pakistan" but this shall be optional to either check for whole or each word.

Staying Informed
When states were beginning to change the sales tax laws for how businesses needed to charge customers, I setup Google Alerts to keep me informed on the latest articles related to the laws being changed. This let me keep informed on which states were implementing changes and how I needed to adjust my business billing processes to ensure I was compliant.
Pros
Being able to setup Alerts for various keywords allows me to easily stay informed on topics relevant to my business. I am able to keep receiving new information instead of having to research information continuously. The ability to set notification preferences with different timeframes and aggregation levels makes the Alerts relevant for me based on topic. Some alerts I like to receive weekly. Other alerts I have setup to send me the information continously.
Cons
At times I receive false positive results from my Alerts. However, this is usually resolved by ensuring keywords are more specific. Using quotes around keywords can help improve the results as well. Sometimes I need to refine an alert to make sure it stays relevant and provides me the accurate results. Editing an alert is simple though, so it does not cause any issue.

A Great Way to Keep Track of Industry Trends
Overall I have had a great experience with Alerts and I love that it comes free of charge. It really helps me to stay current with industry news and gives me ideas about what I can implement within my organization.
Pros
I find it impressive that this product is made available for free. It's also very user-friendly, it took me all of two seconds to create alerts that help me keep track of trends in my industry. I also like how you can customize the frequency of these alerts so as to not flood your inbox.
Cons
I'm very fond of using Alerts but I do wish there were more options in terms of the source. Most of the alerts are coming from web news but they are not being pulled from social media sources like Reddit which I find can also be a good information source.

Easy, Free Catch-All Alerts
As a member of the PR team, it's critical we stay up-to-date on certain topics that are trending in the news, as well as company mentions. Google Alerts saves us a ton of manual searching by sending an email as soon as a given search term is published. It's an absolute life saver for our industry.
Pros
Google Alerts allow us to track news coverage and any mentions of both the company or specific topics that are trending. It allows you to customize with Boolean search terms for hyper specific, accurate results at any cadence you want.
Cons
For more generic searches, the alerts typically return a huge amount of results - however, this is is pretty easily worked around by using Boolean searches.

Google Alerts will remind you of anything.
Overall everyone should use google alerts if they have a google device. If you have an iphone then find out if it works for you as well or maybe there is another iphone product that fits better.
Pros
Google alerts has many options for how many times you would like to be reminded and exactly when you would like to be reminded. It helps me keep track of important deadlines and events.
Cons
Syncing to your calendar can be confusing at first but once you get the hang of that you will be good to go. There are not many things i dislike about the alerts.

Google Alert WILL Alert You.
Pros
I love the fact one will get notified about ANYTHING that a user sets alerts for. It's great to stay updated and informed.
Cons
What I like least about Google Alerts is that it will notify you about a topic with an article, scholarly journal, etc that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. For instance, I will have "Wells Fargo" as my topic but will get articles "mentioning" it not just articles "about" it.

Let Google Alerts notify you for new content on the web
Overall Google Alerts has been very useful for me. Yes there was a bit of a learning curve, but it does what I need it to do.
Pros
I love how I can set it and let it look for new content for me and it leaves me more time to do other things. Instead of having to keep coming back to a site for new content. Alerts watches them for me and lets me know when there is something new. Such a time saver!
Cons
It doesn't really monitor Social Media. I have to be very specific of what I am looking for, otherwise Google will miss it or not get it right. But I've learned to work with it.

If You're Not Using Google Alerts You're Missing Out
It's great for researching, watching trends and hunting for content ideas, but it can become too much. Finding out what is being said about your own brand anywhere saves a ton of time and allows you to see which industries are aligning with your message or if there's an opportunity to collaborate.
Pros
I can set it and forget my alerts for market updates in a variety of industries. Getting all this information would take months to obtain. I can decide if I want to find out more information from the list it provides or not.
Cons
There's too many and it can become overwhelming. It is wise to set it up where you get weekly alerts because it can clutter up your inbox really quickly. I haven't seen the option where I can really exactly what I want to see. I would like to see more tailored options for alerts.

Helpful and efficient, great tool for media monitoring!
All in all, Google Alerts is a very recommendable tool! It helps us track media mentions and not miss important news and articles about our clients. It saves us time and effort.
Pros
It's a fantastic tool if you need media monitoring for some client, issue or campaign! I've set the alerts and so far they've been of great help. It makes our job more efficient because it's easier not to miss any mentions in the media, plus getting the alerts via email makes it all the more practical for us.
Cons
We use different methods for media monitoring, and sometimes we find some articles by googling about the client/camapaign that we don't receive with the google alerts.

And oldie but a goodie!
Pros
As a freelance marketer, as soon as I get a new client I set up alerts for their company name, a few core keywords in their sector and niche ones. I get alerts as they happen, which can drown you, but on the positive side you see so much. You get mentions of the brand, you see what competitors are doing, identify any theft of your content, and learn as well. It does pick up words and stuff that aren't always spot on, but to be honest it has broadened my media consumption.
Cons
Only complaint is more the human nature effect of if I have a few 'less interesting' stories or mentions, my brain will file all of them for a week or so as useless. It can overwhelm, or sometimes daily alerts are too few but this isn't a product fault. I imagine paid for tools offer more customisation and heavier 'brand mentions' but for b2b this is plenty.

Great Tool for monitoring and keeping you up to date on topics of interest across the web
This is a useful tool in this digital age where there is too much 'noise' . Google Alerts definitely helps you concentrate on information that is relevant to you.
Pros
Google Alerts is a very straight forward tool to use. Setting up alerts for certain keywords of interest is as easy as typing the same on the console. Nothing more is required from you. When new content about your keyword pops up across the web, you will be alerted immediately so that you can take the necessary action. You can even specify the frequency with which you want the alert to come. In my fitness career, Google Alerts helps me stay on top of everyone and everything in my industry - For example, fitness content from my mentors in the fitness space, keeping me informed and upto date as far as my industry is concerned.Another useful aspect of Google Alerts is the fact that information from the alerts is scanned across different sources including social media, forums, blogs. This gives you confidence enough that you will not miss out on any critical information.
Cons
The downside of Google Alerts is that it the alerts can be quite overwhelming, especially if we are talking about a common topic that is likely have a lot of traction online.
