Google Calendar: Seemless Collaboration

Overall, my experience with Google Calendar has been better than expected. With integration for various third-party extensions, especially Zoom, it has made the transition and ease of collaboration a breeze.

Pros

What I like most about Google Calendar is its incorporation into the Google Workspace and the user interface. In a matter of seconds, I can go from scheduling a meeting on the calendar in Gmail or quickly getting a reminder about a meeting working with other production applications.

Cons

I don't have many negative comments about Google Calendar, but if I had to pinpoint anything, it would be network stability. Every so often, the workspace experiences lagging or connectivity issues, which impacts your ability to view Google Calendar.

Asleep at the wheel, Google Calendar needs to catch up

Digital calendars have become a core source of truth for planning and day-to-day work and life management. To serve their users today, calendar apps need to be as frictionless as possible while maximising user freedom to differentiate between work and life, events and tasks, and to easily connect to as many types of other software as possible. Once a trailblazing titan of the industry, in the past decade Google Calendar has sadly been innovating as a snail innovates the concrete it glides across. Simple, basic usability improvements like setting the visible length of the day have been available on other calendar apps for almost a decade now, while Google Calendar has actually removed this feature. The only time that I log into Google Calendar now is when the GCal API is actively prohibiting other calendar software of doing something. A lane needs to be picked here: either open up your architecture and serve the ideals that the company was based on, or remain a closed system but modernise.

Pros

Fast & easy to access, with colours that are easy on the eyes, and a no-frills experience of setting up

Cons

An outdated and cumbersome calendar configurator, aging architecture, missing core features, horrible troubleshooting.

Alternatives Considered

Calendly, Motion and Akiflow

Reasons for Switching to Google Calendar

I did not 'choose' Google Calendar as much as it was THE calendar app 15 years ago. Nowadays, Google Calendar is a must as all other calendar apps connect through it.

Best calendar solution

That's the best calendar solution in my opinion.

Pros

Easy to use, works flawlessly on all Android devices and web browsers. I also like the ease of sharing calendar with others.

Cons

The data mining by Google, but that's the price of the free software.

Alternatives Considered

Microsoft Outlook and iOS14

Reasons for Choosing Google Calendar

I wanted to have an online solution available on my different devices and stopped using Yahoo solutions.

Reasons for Switching to Google Calendar

I am mainly Android user and Google is the easiest to use and available without the need to download any other software.

A trusted companion

Great experience, I have been using it for years to manage every aspect of my work and private life, it has saved me multiple times for birthdays, great management of calendars and sharing with team members, easily allows me at all times to check my work availabilities and have everything synchronized across devices in my office.

Pros

I really liked the event management, the ability to create multiple calendars that allows me to divide private life and work.

Cons

I have always disliked less the fact that it does not allow you to create specific categories so that you can divide the various events within the calendar

Consistent and reliable

Overall, it's been great. I've been using it for years and never switched to another tool.

Pros

Google Calendar makes it quick and easy to schedule meetings, send invitations, and add people to the meeting. It works seamlessly with my note-taking app and other integrations, saving me time and stress.

Cons

I wish it integrated with the iPhone more seamlessly. It sometimes seems like they're not compatible. I frequently have to log in to the calendar on my phone, which is frustrating and time-consuming.

Simple, effective calendar app

This is a perfectly functional calendar product, easy to use across different platforms and integrate with other apps. Nothing fancy, but works well.

Pros

Ease of integration with other apps that I use, including my practice management software and my children's school schedule. Easy to invite people to events and to share calendars.
Simple to add and edit (move, delete etc) events.

Cons

Display options could be better, for example, I would like to see more options for ways to see the diary, such as a weekly agenda view; and more colours. The calendar displays is pretty boring.

Google Calendar is my preferred platform for scheduling and organizing my life

Google Calendar is my default and preferred calendar platform for both work and my personal life. I especially like the ability to blend both and see everything in one place.

Pros

Google Calendar is easy to use, and I especially like the ability to share my calendar both personally and professionally with different levels of authority, including just viewing and able to make changes.

Cons

Google Calendar doesn't always get along well with Apple Calendar and that's a problem sometimes.

My business wouldn't function without Google Calendar

This is the most essential tool for working effectively as a solopreneur with clients from all over the globe. I would have lost countless clients, time, and money due to scheduling mishaps over the years if it weren't for Google Calendar.

Pros

Everything is instantly integrated, updated, and synced to take into account my availability, scheduling preferences, and time zone. When working with international clients I never have scheduling misunderstandings, something that happened to me frequently before switching to Google Calendar.

Cons

I wish that the bookable appointment scheduler could automatically connect with Zoom easily to have the links provided to those who book upon scheduling.

Alternatives Considered

Reasons for Choosing Google Calendar

I couldn't make any of my appointments integrate on my calendar. Most of the time my appointments never showed up and I had to write manual reminders in my agenda.

Reasons for Switching to Google Calendar

Highly useful, intuitive calendar management

I find Google Calendar very useful, simple to use and easy to onboard new staff and users.

Pros

Simple to understand and navigate, simple to teach to new users

Cons

I wish Apple reminders could sync with Google Calendar. Or, Google Tasks were an app Siri could manage with voice commands as the Apple Reminders is. I use reminders all the time and it'd be great if for work (where I use Google Workspace) I could use voice to text for Tasks.

Big fan of google calendar for our team!

Overall it's been great. I truly appreciate the google meet integration, it's a huge time saver for setting up virtual meetings. I also greatly appreciate the real-time updates - we have a few people from our team working on the same items, sometimes at the same time, and having them show the updates in real time is really helpful to not duplicate efforts.

Pros

Google calendar is really user friendly and easy to use. I like that you can just click on the calendar at the date/time you want to add something and it opens up all the options to add details, add a reminder, invite guests, etc. For our office it's great because we can all see whatever we need to from wherever we have connection. As long as our phone has the google calendar app, we can see the full calendar from wherever we are, which makes it very easy to get information even when we're away from our computer.

Another great part is the integration with google meet, making it really easy to schedule meetings with team members. It's great to just add something to the calendar and have it automatically give the option to join the meeting through google meet - less work to set up a separate virtual meeting space, which is a big time saver.

Cons

The only thing I don't like about the calendar is the formatting changes it makes when you make edits from a mobile device. When I open an item on my calendar through my phone, if I have to make an edit to the description it changes the current formatting, making it much harder to read when returning to the desktop version. I'm not sure if this is something that is caused by the type of phone/OS I'm using, or if it's part of the calendar settings, but it can be annoying to have to fix formatting when I return to my computer.

Google Calendar: Easy to use and Integrate

I have used Google Calendar for several years now. I find it extremely helpful for me to keep up with appointments and tasks. I integrate it with a few other business applications that I have such as Zoom, and Book Like A Boss. The integrations work seamlessly and improve my productivity tremendously. I can't say enough good things about Google Calendar!

Pros

I like the fact that you can easily integrate Google Calendar with many other applications. For example, I integrated Google Calendar with my Zoom account and now it creates events in the calendar whenever I create a Zoom meeting.
I also like the ease of use. It's very easy to create a task or event.
I also like the fact that I can sync the desktop application to the app on my phone. This is VERY help.

Cons

There are a few features on the mobile app that I wish was on the desktop application. For example, when I am creating an event and want to add a new notification, on the mobile app I see the option to automatically add a notification 1 day before the event. I have to add it manually on the desktop application. But for the most part, there is very little that I don't like about Google Calendar.

Life is better with Google calendar

Love it overall. I work 3 jobs, owned 2 businesses, so being able to pop into my calendar and see all 3 from 2 different platforms plus Google calendar schedule made my life much simpler and more fluid.
It's also made it easier to schedule in clients, and send them a quick email confirming they're in, and them being able to RSVP. It has a lot of different options for those who have a more chaotic schedule but need to stay organized.

Pros

Ease of use, and ability to link calendar to many other platforms for work, including Noterro for business, Google email for flights/appointments etc.
I love the search option, when it came time to navigate my past appointments I could simply search in the type or location and it was able to pull up all of them from the first time I started using calendar.

Cons

Too few colours for tasks/appointments. I use it so frequently and would love to see more colour options available as it helps with remembering exactly what's been booked that day.

It can be used for both work and home, and the fact that the two calendars can be synced to avoid schedule conflicts is fantastic. Having reminders for meetings and appointments is a lifesaver.

Cons

Sometimes the reminders can be overwhelming when you have them set for several calendars and the sync does not recognize the same appointment on multiple calendars, so you may get doubles of one appointment

Google Calendar - Never lose track.

Fantastic, it's kept everyone on the same page and allows visibility for scheduling and meeting! I'd highly recommend it to anyone with a busy schedule!

Pros

I love the fact that Google Calendar keeps me on track every day with the ability to adjust on the fly. Having visibility of what my lead intake coordinator has set for me with consistent reminders leads has led to a stress-free lifestyle. The ability to video chat with "Google Meets" is a feature that should not be missed for a consultant! Integrated with the ability to include locations I know exactly when and where I should be from a few clicks.

Cons

It would be nice to give visibility to my clients for when my open slots are available to help them choose the best time to meet. It sounds like Google Calendar has this option though, so really it's on us! I don't dislike anything!

Google Calendar keeps me organized

I’ve been using Google Calendar for years now. I’ve used it with all my clients, for work, personal, social media, and school.

Pros

I love Google Calendar. I love the syncability it has. I can add all my important calendars for work, business, events, home, family, personal, etc. I can color code and see everything in a month’s glance. I love that it has an app as well. Makes it so much easier to use on my phone and tablet. All of my clients usually use Google Calendars as well so it makes it easy for us to sync calendars and dates. You can add links for Zoom, Skype, and other platforms for meetings, classes and more. Add addresses for specific places so you can tap and get directions to where you’re going.

Cons

I wish there were a few more color options for an even more customized calendar but other than that I love it.

Easy and simple calendar app that integrates well into other apps

I really like Google calendar. It is very easy to import events from your mail apps, as well as reservations for flights and similar events. It is compatible with many other scheduling apps and works well with Google of course (which is my main browser). It is a very simple and effective calendar with an easy user interface which displays all the necessary information.

Pros

It is very easy to import events, and to create repeats and exceptions.

Cons

I think that sometimes it’s a bit hard to navigate who created certain events in a shared calendar.

I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a practical and easy way to keep their work and personal life running smoothly.

Pros

Great product for simply organizing and planning my day. Sharing deadlines and plans with others makes it easy to keep everyone on task and on time. Love the sharing option to keep everyone informed and productive. Wonderful product for work and personal life.

Cons

I have been using Google Calendar for years but in the beginning, it took a bit of time and effort to learn how to use all the features in the app. As with all new things, there is a small learning curve, but it was well worth it.
