> Bitbucket is a collaborative Git solution that allows users to review codes with pull requests. Users can have discussions with coders in the source code with inline comments. The software provides a multi-deployment option as it can be hosted in the cloud or on-premise.

Configuration as code enables developers to manage their own delivery workflows. Users can configure Bitbucket pipelines by adding a bitbucket-pipelines.yml file to the root of a repository. Bitbucket pipelines show build statuses automatically on branches, commits and pull requests.

Branch permissions provide limited access controls to team members, so that only users with knowledge of editing codes can make changes to the code. Users can analyze the changes in repositories with unified or side-by-side views while reviewing codes.

The solution integrates with other applications such as JIRA, Hipchat, Bamboo and Trello. Support is provided via an online forum, email and phone. Pricing is per user per month.

## Reviews

### "Great source control, with caveats" — 5.0/5

> **Andres** | *22 November 2023* | Health, Wellness & Fitness | Recommendation rating: 9.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Easy to set up repos and good enough permission management for users. Easy to organise repos into "directories".
>
> **Cons**: The Pull request experience isn't great, especially for longer-lived pull requests with a large amount of files. I hear batched comments to PRs were added recently, so that's a step in the right direction.
>
> It's a perfectly adequate git host, though after using other offerings in the market, I tend to lean away from Bitbucket

### "An alternative for the Atlassian environment" — 5.0/5

> **Tomás** | *24 May 2024* | Computer Software | Recommendation rating: 9.0/10
>
> **Pros**: What I liked the most about using Bitbucket was the possibility of interconnecting everything from JIRA and Confluence directly and seamlessly to my repositories. This helped my team not only to save time but also to keep track of everything happening around our development cycle in a way that felt natural.
>
> **Cons**: The interface tries to differentiate from GitHub a lot, and sometimes it feels it is not something you need to innovate into; some things are just the way they are. I found the project-\>repository structure confusing, and navigating through them wasn't easy.
>
> It was very easy to set up. I had the chance to propose this tool to my development team, and it helps and gets to its full potential if you are using other Atlassian tools.

### "It served a very good purpose" — 5.0/5

> **George** | *1 November 2023* | Information Technology & Services | Recommendation rating: 9.0/10
>
> **Pros**: I enjoyed working with bitbucket and Google Cloud platform
>
> **Cons**: I hope the documentation on bitkucket will be more extensive

### "An application that has all the support and integration with Atlassian" — 4.0/5

> **Enrique** | *11 October 2023* | Information Technology & Services | Recommendation rating: 7.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Probably the integration with the complete Atlassian suite is what attracts me the most, working with Jira, Trello, Confluence and being able to solve problems from a support or customer service common to all these applications, greatly influences the decision to work with Bitbucket.
>
> **Cons**: Well, there are two clear competitors that take the majority of the repositories, but they are not mutually exclusive, you can use another of them, perhaps better in some aspects, while still taking advantage of the integration with the other applications.
>
> I remember that I started with Bitbucket because to start with repositories, it offered me more than the others at zero cost. Then, after starting to work more intensely and manage projects, I opted for the Atlassian suite. I had already been using Trello for a long time and in another company I used Jira for incidents, and I also felt comfortable with these applications, so that I didn't change.

### "Solid Git Hosting for Atlassian Teams with Easy Pipelines" — 4.0/5

> **Verified Reviewer** | *2 September 2025* | Information Technology & Services | Recommendation rating: 7.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Tight Jira/Confluence integration; solid PR workflows and branch permissions
- Pipelines are easy to set up (YAML, caches, env vars) and good for common CI/CD
- Good value for small/medium teams (free private repos, sensible tiers)
>
> **Cons**: - Pipelines minutes/concurrency can get pricey; hosted macOS/Windows runners are limited
- UI performance and code search/browsing/editor feel behind GitHub/GitLab
>
> Straightforward Git hosting and reviews, best if you’re in the Atlassian stack
Pipelines cover most needs; for heavy/complex builds we used self‑hosted runners
