Mighty Networks

Mighty Networks helped me help my customers. I was able to build a community around my business where customers help each other and we help them altogether. This kind of gave my business the superpower of having all the answers for my users because of all the content the members were contributing to the platform.

Pros

The overall simplicity of the platform in both building one and maintaining functionality. Even as a newcomer to the platform, you can build an extremely advanced community with memberships and courses, because Mighty Networks guides you through the whole process.
One other thing I really like is Mighty Networks' commitment to getting your communications to your community members. You are equipped with notification tools, a website, and a mobile app for you to reach your members wherever they are.

Cons

My major problem with Mighty Networks came when I wanted to integrate its tools with third-party software using Zapier. Mighty Networks' integration with Zapier is not rich enough. For my use case, it did not allow me to send information from my network to another service I was using.

Alternatives Considered

A good start

I wish I had more impact on the features needed to run a group my size.

Pros

Event/calendar feature was the most helpful for our needs.

Cons

It was overwhelming to my users, hard to find conversations and if they didn't check in regularly, they felt lost. As our group grew larger than 20 it became harder to harder to use for conversations and collaboration.

Response from Mighty Networks

Hi Judith! We're always looking for feedback like this. We have big chat improvements coming later this year as well that will have some of the chat functionality you like with Slack. Let us know about any other specific feature asks and we can share them with the product team.

Mighty Networks is Great for Hosting an Online Community

Mighty Networks enabled me to cost-effectively launch an online community of freelancers. I had been dreaming about this for a long time and Mighty Networks made it possible.

Pros

I found Mighty Networks easy to set up. The pre-populated sections helped me know what to add for my own community. There is enough customization but not too much. The features are robust for the price. I love the private community, the activity feed with ability to post media-rich articles, the member profiles, the private group areas off the main network etc.

Cons

The pricing plans were hard to figure out at first. I wish that I could invite people directly to groups not just the network. I am looking forward to charging in CAD instead of USD.

Easy setup, great features, consistently improving

I've been really pleased not only with the platform but also with the customer service. It's a great product and I look forward to continuing to grow with it!

Pros

I'm thankful to have found Mighty Networks to manage our community. I'd been looking for a platform to help move our existing community from Facebook because frankly, I hate FB. It's been great and we're only scratching the surface with what we can do with the platform.

Cons

The UI could use some simplifying and cleaning up. I wish I could record and post videos right in the app.

Go Mighty with Community

I wish Mighty Networks was around and that I discovered it earlier. Moving away from big social media and being able to create my communities has been a game changer for my work. Community is a superpower, and Mighty provides powerful tools to unite and engage my members.

Pros

Mighty Networks gives me autonomy and the ability to curate a community outside algorithmically driven social media spaces like Facebook groups. With Mighty, I've grown and supported a community of members with similar goals and values. We're having a real-world impact while supporting each other. As an educator, Mighty's course-building tools have enabled me to create engaging hands-on lessons that reach more people.

Cons

I love that Mighty integrates with Stripe, but sometimes setting up and making plans feels a little clunky - especially if you want to change the plans afterwards. That said, this has gotten much better over the almost two years since I've been using Mighty.

Community Forum

I am happy to have this app to connect with people in my community. It is nice to have a group solely focused on the subject at hand. Mighty Networks allows information to be shared between community members.

Pros

I like that it is a way to connect with people in a group I am in. People can post and share ideas as well as comment. It is relatively easy to see what has been posted and to follow the discussion.

Cons

I don't find the interface to be the most easy to use. I was in another group on another app and it seemed easier to navigate than this. However, it is easy enough to use. I just don't find myself using it as much as I used the other app when I was in the other group.

Great for community and remaining focused on material

Mighty Networks is a great community network tool, that when leveraged the right way can be incredibly impactful for people wishing to learn in community.

Pros

What I love about Mighty Networks is that it connects me to fellow communities, without the distractions of social media. I don't participate in Facebook groups often, and it's always frustrating when it is used as a classroom component. Mighty Networks is a great alternative for folks that wish to create a much more focused and intentional experience for their communities.

Cons

I wish that private group messaging was easier to manage and edit. At the moment it isn't possible to simply add another person to an existing group message. Instead I need to restart the thread hoping that I won't need to add another person. As a user this is frustrating, and as someone trying to bring people together in a discussion it can feel too clunky and messy.

Small But Mighty

Mighty Networks is something that I look forward to watching grow and evolve. The market is wide open and they have yet to let me down.

Pros

I have built very successful groups on facebook but when doing so there is always a level of fear and trepidation when it comes to building a community on a platform you have no control of. Groups are just 1 segment of the Facebook market, and they could effectively kill groups at any time. Having a third party tool to continue growing a community is key to the ever changing landscape.

Cons

The benefit of Mighty Networks is also the detriment. Because my group is no longer on FB, daily entries in to the group are lower and the overall experience for members is lower. Now people have to go out of their way to join and participate. This means less people over all, but more dedicated people.

Forward thinking

It is a robust, easy to use program that makes it easy for anyone to build their own community and have their own app without complicated (or expensive) tech. Once they tie in more video options it will take everything to the next level!

Pros

The software has grown a lot since I first started using is a year ago. Right away I saw the benefits of this amazing software that would allow me to take my membership community to the next level – I'm a techie and I'm always ahead of the curve so this software was a perfect match!

Cons

When I first started with the software a year ago it was still being developed in terms of ease of use for providing different types of membership options which now is available.

Response from Mighty Networks

Thanks so much for this review Ed! We're glad you're taking advantage of the Payment features we offer and are excited to see where you take your Mighty Network. Plus we're glad to hear it's a good fit for you as a techie who wants to ditch complicated and expensive solutions.

Great Membership Platform for Beginners and Advanced Users

Pros

I really appreciate the simplicity of the layout and the ability to schedule posts into the future. I also see that they are adding features that make the app more effective for my audience.

Cons

I do wish there were more types of posting features, a wider array of payment options / management tools, and more emphasis on mobile / Android compatibility.

Mighty Networks makes what we do possible

Mighty Networks has helped us build a robust private network for small business owners. We appreciate their desire to improve the software, adapt to user needs, and pioneer new ideas. It's been an absolute pleasure working with the Mighty Networks team!

Pros

Mighty Networks makes it possible for us to bring small business owners together so they can learn from each other. We appreciate having a private, well-organized space for conversation. We also love the features that help members find each other and get to know each other better.

Cons

Mighty Networks is pretty darn intuitive--but it can be a learning curve for some members. We've found this can be overcome by simply creating resources and events that help members navigate the space and experience the platform.

Response from Mighty Networks

We really appreciate this Tara! Thanks for highlighting the ways it helps your members connect. We're honored to have the What Works community on the Mighty Networks platform.

The Best Community Software

Pros

When I started my online community, I didn't want to rely on Facebook and I also wanted software that would allow me to share pre-recorded workshops etc. Mighty Networks really is the best of both worlds. If you include topics you can easily build a resource database for your members AND you have a social media feed where members can interact with each other. It's super easy to use, much cheaper than Kajabi and the likes (which imo don't really work for a membership anyways) and the customer service is the best.

Cons

Here are some smaller adjustments that I'd like to see in the future:
- option to choose more than one topic for an article
- embedment of audio, instead of file sharing
- migrate members from monthly to annual plans
- plans in NZD
- more options to adjust the landing page
- free trial period for members without having to put in credit card details (and allow members to use the whole trial period even if they cancel earlier)

Alternatives Considered

WordPress and Kajabi

Mighty Networks keeps improving

Using mighty networks has been a great alternative to Facebook groups.

Pros

I like the ease of use. My clients can access via the app or online and it’s super easy for me to push out content regularly. I also like that they are consistently upgrading the features. As My business has grown, they have too.

Cons

There are some limitations. I’d like to be able to “go live” and record directly to the platform.

MN intuitively understands what people desire in a social network

Overall, this software has been a game changer. No one I’ve ever recommended it to has passed on it. Mighty Networks is the secret garden between, say, Facebook and Discord.

Pros

So many features and so cleanly organized! New members are automatically led through an onboarding process, which frees my team up for more creative engagement work. And on the Host end, there’s also a walkthrough process. So overall, I love the intuitive design of this software.

Cons

Since launching my MN in April 2019, my biggest critique to date is the lack of a hashtag feature — or at the least, the option to tag a post with multiple topics. Probably 80-90% of the questions or complaints I receive are about this lack.

The best option to nurture your members!

I love the product and all its features. Being able to organize content and showcasing training is amazing. The fact that members can connect with people that are close to them also is a great feature.

Pros

The process is easy, the features are great, its several software's combined in one. To top it off great pricing.

Cons

There are a few features that are lacking and could use upgrading. One of the things that I struggle with most is getting people to engage and use the system more.

Beautiful and straightforward container for meaningful conversations and content.

Pros

I love that the community is built for connection and not distraction. Members aren't inundated with ads and links to other content. The design is elegant and simple creating a beautiful container for meaningful conversations and content.

Cons

It would be beneficial to have video content hosted internally for ease of administration and to encourage members to share their own video content. It would also be nice to have group conversations in chat and the ability to co-author content with members.

Getting started as a community not for profit movement and business

Its been great for a self starter like me, who likes to create my own content, way of working , its given us a great start in creating our organisation in a way that's not the normal. We want a community that allows freedom for any member to step up, in and off any element of our work together that interests them. A self led and emergent community. The mighty network has been really great for all this to happen without any blocks at all.

Pros

It has been the right flexible tool for us to begin to build our network and work out how we can work best to create our movement

Cons

Its not really a con, but to grow we need access to data, ideally need courses to be chargeable in uk pounds rather than dollars.

Mighty Networks is a game changer!!

I've been using MN since July 2018. I am 100% satisfied with the software. Mighty Networks have been a game-changer for my business.

Pros

What I love the most about Mighty Networks is that fact that I can literally have everything in one place. MN helps keeps my community members engaged and the user interface is clean and easy to use.

Cons

It's hard to find a Con for Mighty Networks. The only thing that is on my wish list from them right now is having native video and a way to do Livestreams inside of the product. I know that is something that they are currently working on.

The team at Mighty Networks really wants you to succeed and provides all the support necessary to do that!

Pros

I love the close, sheltered experience my members get when they join me in our group - they can focus, be honest, and stay on track without distractions or worries about information getting out.

Cons

Integrating with another software in order to share video is still a work in progress but it is possible and there is promise that there is more to come!

Cons

We've only been using it for a month now, so we are still in the honeymoon phase, but I do wish we could customize different groups and chats, maybe add a search feature to make it easier and organized for our app users to find what they need in our community since we post so much.

Pros

In the beginning, Mighty Networks was GREAT for building a "Facebook" like community and more. The set up allowed more people to be engaged in general content and to participate with one another.

Cons

They changed their structure, making members and content specific to rooms or spaces and that instantly limited my overall, general engagement and the ability market and encourage users to move into paid spaces.
