Sling for Managing Teams
Has helped me manage a team of 70 with constantly changing shifts (days/times)
Pros
Love this products ease of use and ability to manage a large team schedule.
Allos you to code people for different positions, set recurring shift times and even has a group chat to easily send out team notifications ect.
Send each person's schedule directly to their phone. Great for managing a younger demographic.
Cons
There is no way for the team member to post a shift for coverage, everything has to be done by the manager (this could also be a pro, depending on what your looking for)

Scheduling Tool Perfection
We tried to move from Sling to another product and ultimately went back to Sling. It is extremely user friendly, can handle the crazy scheduling needs for our complex hospital, as well offers an employee database.
Pros
Super easy to create recurring schedules for the team, keep track of time off requests, and fill in gaps in scheduling when necessary.
Cons
The only thing I wish Sling could do is copy singular shifts and "paste" them somewhere else. The app/website offers a repetitive function, but for the shifts that only re-occur occasionally this would make scheduling much more efficient.

Love and Hate Relationship
We specifically chose this app because it integrated with Gusto, but the integration does not work well and the payroll report integration with gusto, does not work at all. Customer service is super hard to get hold of, they don't know what is going on, and it has been 3 months and the issue is still not fixed. It was difficult transferring everything over to sling and now we are stuck with them until we can switch over to a new company. Very disappointed with the integration and the lack of support. They have no phone number to call, it is only through a chat, that they take long to respond.
Pros
Creating, tracking and duplicating shifts works really well
Cons
Integration with Gusto and customer support.

Easy to Use
It's been great. Need to adjust some of the messaging settings, but overall it's been an easy transition for all.
Pros
The best thing about Sling is the ease of use. It is very user friendly and easy to understand.
Cons
I don't like how easy it is for the staff to send out messages to everyone in the building.

Sling Low, Sweet Chariot
I think the best way to describe our experience with Sling is by relaying the following series of events. We were aware that we were losing money due to inefficient scheduling, so much so that our board of directors authorized us to spend $500 for a consultant to come provide us with a better way to operate. While the consultant had some decent ideas, they were not actionable. We decided to try out Sling. Now that we have started using it and upgraded to the premium version, we are spending less annually to have all our scheduling handled by Sling than we paid a consultant for a day's worth of work. The cost of implementing Sling was far, far outweighed by the savings that it brought us.
Pros
Sling has taken away the need for us to have a dedicated employee spend 15-20 hours a week on employee scheduling. We are a relatively small non-profit, and as such we have multiple employees who routinely have to work outside their specialty/field of expertise in order to keep us afloat. One area that we have consistently had issues with is scheduling and tracking employees and volunteers. With multiple sites and multiple managers, we were losing money because we were doubling up on many shifts. It was not until we implemented Sling that we were able to effectively manage our employees schedule to provide us with the most return on our investment and our customers with the best service.
Cons
We started out using the free version of Sling. Because we have less than 50 employees, this suited us fine at first, but there were options we did not have access to. We quickly realized that the limitations imposed by the free version could easily be solved by upgrading to the minimally priced premium version.

Features, functions, and fabulous
Despite the desperate cheerleader narratives about every, single one of their features (we get it, it's cool guys), some of their offerings really are innovative and a welcome addition to business management software that you can't find in any of their competitors (geofencing clock in/out is possibly the best thing I've ever heard), their costs are the lowest I've ever seen and their easy to navigate platform is the most comprehensive I've ever found. Even if they charged 5 or 10x what they are, it would still be an easy choice.
Pros
This software was easy to use and implement, intuitive, colorful, well labeled, directive, fluid, and flexible. There are a lot of options available and it offers a lot od customization during both set up and operation. I especially loved that the process to
use sling, and the web application, was fast and understandable trying to get a small start up off the ground has me already spread thin on time and money, so sling really packs a punch for it's cost, which literally made my jaw drop, unparalleled!
Cons
The company website (not the web application itself) was cumbersome and their prose was annoyingly perky. Seeing as they rambled on and on in long, overly adulating paragraphs about each one of their features, by the time I got to the "what's included in all packages/price points" section, I was a little disappointed about all the features not included (successful marketing ploy) but disappointing nonetheless.

I have been using SLING for my teams (75+ Staff) scheduling now for several years. It is very user friendly and the few glitches and issues that I have come across do not overpower the usefulness of the program.

Good platform for scheduling management.
Pros
This platform is very easy to use. Time tracking, request days off, PTO, vacation time, swaps, I was able to do everything there, it is self-explanatory. And we were able to access it from our phones, works for remote work.

All in one employee communication tool
Pros
Sling is useful scheduling tool. As an employee, I like to be able to see available shifts, as well as be reminded of upcoming shifts. It's any easy way to communicate with co-workers, having all relevant employees able to see and message each other in one place.
Cons
There are so many things that Sling can do, but I do feel that it takes some getting used to find and master all the features.

Best scheduling app out there
It truly has been a real asset for our business, I really believe we would be lost without this fantastic software.

Clocking in works great with SLING, scheduling and the employee interaction with the app is fantastic!

GREAT for managing many employees with unusual/atypical Shifts. Very scaleable, efficiency...
Pros
So many 'Pros'!! --
- supports multiple work sites/locations.
- supports different employee roles/titles.
- supports large (unlimited?) number of employees.
- can 'deactivate' employees & then reinstate them at a later date (no need to delete the employee's entire profile).
- There are even more 'Pros' that we haven't fully explored yet, such as employees communicating with each other through the app to arrange shift swaps, etc. So much potential!!
I work at a college Math Learning Center where we provide additional assistance to students seeking extra math support. Having a scheduling app/software that can manage many employees with atypical/changing/unusual shifts is crucial!! We employ both full-time permanent staff and temporary students tutors and with our temporary staff we have a lot of turnover as students come-and-go. Thus we have changes to the schedule constantly. So for us, a dynamic system is a must.
The Sling support staff is also very responsive and open to suggestions and ideas. Some of my suggestions have been incorporated, such as being able to included a 'break' duration for a shift which then is subtracted from the shift hour total. These changes have made Sling even more useful! I am so thrilled to have found this FREE scheduling web application. We don't have the budget to pay for a scheduling software/app, yet we needed a tool that could handle our very specific and complicated needs. We found it in Sling!!
Cons
- Would like to be able to add more details about each employee, such as customized checkboxes for employee 'expertise'. (There is a 'notes' section for each employee profile, which is nice.)
- Be able to make tags/notes for certain dates, such as 'holiday' or 'extended day' to remind the scheduler of different scheduling needs.
- Have a shift-responsibilities designation option, such as 'Opener' or 'Closer'
- Would like to be able to 'collapse' some of the hours from view and/or designate a viewing window that shows only when our center is open (must be unique by location). Though being able to schedule shifts beyond 'operating hours' is needed (set-up, take-down time) but many hours before and after our operating hours don't need to be displayed.
- Would like there to be a way to designate general staff 'types' (i.e. permanent vs temporary) not just different employee position. A Permanent staff member had additional responsibilities and must be staffed at all times, so being able to look at the shifts of just Permanent staff would be beneficial.
- More customizable options for the print-view.
All these cons, if addressed, would just be icing on the cake. The app, as it is now, is completely functional and covers all the necessities and more!

Game Changer for us.
In the nature of my business, it just works! I love that my employees can see who else is working where. BUT they can see who is working with them. The fees are totally afforadable! It makes life SO easy for me from what we were using before!!
Pros
What I like the most about Sling is... I used to text message all of my employees to ler ask if they can work and then again to let them know when they are working! I no longer need to do that. They all know if they cant work they do the "Time Off request" if they can never work on such day they do "Unavailible" The natrue of our business are only events so we are somewhere different every event. Sling connects the address to the date as well. Its just been a total Game Changer a fee that we can afford!!
Cons
This is a hard one! I really cant think of what I like least other than it needs to be intgrated with Apple Calendar, and the notification glitch I mentioned earlier.

This app is a game changer
Sling is excellent! I have been using it for several years and it’s getting better every year. I highly recommend it. It’s allows real time scheduling for team members as well as time off requests, shift notifications and several more options. It’s extremely convenient and easy to use. There are great simple features like colour blocking specific roles, it’s the little things that count. Along with all of that there is virtually no annoying advertising.
Sling has created a seamless connection between schedule creators and team members creating easy communication and boundaries.
Thank you Sling for generously offering such a great app.
Pros
There are so many options and it’s very easy to use from both the administrator and users point of view. It’s constantly being updated for improvements and there is absolutely no advertising on the free version.
Cons
It’s not really a con more of a possible option in the future and perhaps this is already an option. It would be great if it could link to iCal for apple users.

Great for Remote Working
Sling has made tracking hours a lot easier and has helped the payroll department immensely. It's organized and fairly user friendly, there's a slight learning curve but it's not bad. It's been nothing but useful!
Pros
Support for this program is good, I've never had any complaints there. You can schedule shifts or just let employees clock in and out as needed. They can pause their shift if a break is being taken.
The in app messaging system is decent.
As an admin you can leave notes and tags on what each shift is and what that person will be doing/did, they can even been color coded.
It's very easy to add an employee and schedule shifts for them.
There's a general news feed and a tasks board where you can assign tasks to certain people.
Cons
The only con I can think of right now is employees can't just directly add a note to the shift they've just finished and the navigation takes a little while to get used to.
The messaging system doesn't have a global moderator too, so if something is being said that shouldn't be, screenshots from another employee would be the only way to know.

Very good and consistent shift management
The Sling support folks have been great. I feel kind of guilty because I am using the free version, but it does what I need.
Pros
The graphical interface is well-designed and lets folks see the information they need to see. Set up is pretty straightforward. There have never been any interruptions in service that we have noticed.
Cons
I could wish that shifts for a week could be copied into as many future weeks as I choose, rather than having to do them one week at a time. For our team, shifts haven't really changed for years and that would be nice.

Cuts down on times spent on scheduling
Pros
Love the fact that I can look out months out to see who I have off and when. It let's those who are on vacation know what their schedule is without calling the store. We can communicate with our employee's when we have a store meeting, if we have shifts
Cons
My one and only issue is the cost. As a General Manager of one store, the overall company does not pay to use Sling so I am responsible for the bill. I am sure though, that a company as a whole would not have an issue with the cost.

Basic Sling is great
Pros
Our company uses the basic level of Sling for scheduling. It’s nice to creat reoccurring shifts, allow employees to submit requests off, put daily notes in and to be able to trade shifts (with managementa approval). Not really sure how I put up with my previous way of scheduling. Sling has made it a breeze.
Cons
No cons on the basic level - maybe if we paid for it, there might be a con?…
